;D Sounds like great fun!!! I live near Bruges (Brugge)... in a town called 'Zedelgem'. Ostend (Oostende) isn't so far from here either! Do you visit your family a lot? Next time you do, you'll have to tell me, so we can meet up!

reviving the splitting-nails-toppic: Do you think nail-repair-polish can cause nail splitting?thing is: since 2 or 3 weeks my nails are getting worse and worse....I never had super strong nails, but they used to be at least ok-ish, they broke when I had let them get too long, but otherwise I had no major problems with them. but now they are in really bad condition, especially the nails on the index fingers - I can't even cut them so short that the "splitted part" is cut off - the splitting doesn't seem to grow out, but rather to grow in even further and I think the whole thing started with this new nail polish. It's a transparent one and it is actually supposed to repair brittle nails....I bought it 'cause I needed a new transparent nail polish and also because one of my (at this time pretty long) nails looked a little bit break-y - so I thought with this nail polish I could keep my long nails a little bit longer - but no, exactly the opposite happened I really don't know what else it could be: there were no major changes in my life, I don't have more stress (not more than usual anyway) and I eat pretty much the same I used to...so my only explanation is the new nail polish... has anyone made similar experiences?

Was it a nail strengthener? If so, you need to balance the hardener with a nail oil, nails need to be inbetween strong and flexible, if they're too strong, they'll snap. Applying nail strengtheners make the nails too strong sometimes, so you need to apply an oil to add flexibility.

hmm, well I thought it was not really a strengthener, more sth like a "repair" polish.... this is what it says on the vial: p2 PROFI NAIL STUDIO (the "profi" shouldn't be taken to serious, it was a rather cheap one) Fast Help Repair Immediate aid for torn, brittle and soft nails. The transparent nail polish strengthens (<-- duh, ok probably is really a strengthener : nails with a protective acrylic film. Apply to non-lacquered nails and allow to dry.soo, seems I was wrong and it is a strengthener....but there is no mentioning of applying an oil there.... (and actually my nails didn't feel any stronger/harder....they also didn't really snap, they just brittled (? is this even a verb?) pretty badly...)and anyway how/when would I apply the oil? I always thought nails should be oil-free before you put nail polish on? an afterwards how would the oil reach the nail when there is already the polish on it?

Any help for a man? I keep my nails short but have got my thumb hit hard with a hammer 30 years ago and the nail is split to the cuticle. Sometimes it splits open and get caught on my clothes. The only thing I do is put on some "Super Glue" to keep it closed. Anything else I can do?
