Hello Everyone. I am a 31 year old Toriphile. I thought I would introduce myself here and give you a bit of info about me
My Tori Story.
It was late in 1992. Me and my best friend were shopping one Saturday afternoon. We went to Asda (UK version of Walmart) I had been listening to alternative music all through my childhood thanks to my parents, and I was on the look out for some new records. I happened upon a 7” single called Crucify by someone called Tori Amos. I had never heard of it or her, but I remember that I was instantly drawn to buying it as I thought the cover was fabulous (she had vegetables around her neck) Plus, it was in the ‘bargain bin’ for 29p. I got it home and was instantly in love with it. The B side was ‘Here in my Head’ and I remember thinking that I had never heard something so wonderful. I went out a few weeks later and bought Little Earthquakes, and the process began. I was 12.
Tori was there all through my teenage years. The failed school grades, the bad relationships, my first job. She was also there with FTCH when I met and married my husband. I had Cornflake Girl played at my wedding because I remember thinking ‘This is not really happening.. You bet your life it is!’
She was with me through my early marriage. Through the painful years of infertility and the eventual miracle that is my Daughter. I had never seen Tori live, and my Hubby took me to see her in 2007 for the ADP tour in London for my birthday. One of the best nights of my life. I spent the whole concert almost apoplectic with awe (not to mention the bursting into tears!)
Everyone who knows me closely knows me as a Toriphile, and I am the only one I know (where I live anyway) I thought I would join up here as I always wanted to meet other like minded Toriphiles.
So, That’s me and my love affair with Tori.
