I normally keep a book or 5 going at the same time. I have my night time book by the bed and the others are just scattered around the house near places i like to sit and read at. The bed book of the moment is Tai Pan by James Clavell, some of the other books are The R. Crumb handbook by Crumb and Peter Poplaski, Amphigorey Also by Edward Gorey, Choke by Chuck Palahniuk and The Great Shark Hunt by Hunter S Thompson. Choke was by far my least favorite Palahniuk book so far (I've read all of them but Haunted)- maybe it was because it seemed even more cynical and satirical than usual for him, or maybe it was simply the overabundance of heterosexual sex. Either way, I much preferred Invisible Monsters and Survivor. Anyways, I am currently reading "American Pastoral" by Philip Roth, and enjoying the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman for the second time (the amount of subliminal connections between characters and events, and the amount of references to history, mythology, and Tori, is astounding!). Reason for Editting: forgot to share which books I'm reading

Can't resist a book thread... Nor can I resist reading several books at a time! Also been doing a lot of re-reading lately...
Currently:
- The Underground Man by Mick Jackson (excellent) - Tam Lin by Pamela Dean (re-reading; SUPER excellent) - Fiona MacCarthy's mammoth bio of William Morris (re-read)
Just finished (re-reading):
- Uncle Silas by JS LeFanu - The Flanders Panel by Arturo Perez-Reverte - The Secret History by Donna Tartt (EXCELLENT)
And by-the-bye, for those fed up with Dan Brown (not I, said the fly) but who would like to read something in the same-y sort of historical/mystery/puzzler vein, I'd suggest The "Flanders Panel" (above) as well as another one by Reverte called "The Club Dumas." The latter was the basis for the movie "The Ninth Gate" starring Johnny Depp (but don't hold that against the book). Also try Katherine Neville's "The Eight" and "The Magic Circle" and, more recently, "The Codex" by Lev Grossman and "The Rule Of Four" by two chaps whose names... just flew out the window. Sorry. Good book, though.
OK, I'll shut up. I could go on for days about good books.

I'm reading two right now. 'The Invisible Man' by Ralph Ellison, and 'An Idiot Girl's Christmas' by Laurie Notaro. Both are pretty good.

It's pretty difficult (am reading it in English)... but it's very good.
