I'm reading 'American Gods' - Neil Gaiman... it's about fucking time. Cool! So am I! I just started it last night but I have to be up at 5 every morning, so I didn't get far. Did you read the acknowledgements in the back of the book? Tori is mentioned--the book was actually written in Tori's houses in Florida and Ireland! ;D ~Lisa

I decided to start reading another book at the same time as American Gods, because I joined an organization that also has a book club. Right now we're reading Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie. So I'm trying to read him and Gaiman at the same time, LOL. I have to finish Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Thursday. Don't know if I will!

Herbjorg Wassmo (with this / in the o) - the motive. the're going to ask me things about this book on school, but I picked out a really good book for that cause it's writting in the I-form(?) (I walked down the street/I saw a funny big fuzzy purple elephant with a beer) but the characters don't really have names, and all they basically do is observate. 1st chapter is about a women who is looking at a house shé might buy. fuck, I'm just realizing I don't remember the 2nd chapter. 3th chapter is about this (wo)man, I think woman being sporta obsessed with other woman. *is remembering the 2nd chapter* it's about a woman who is sick and just lays in bed all the time, just describing people visiting her. and I haven't read the last chapter. but some of the obvious questions I can't answer like what was her name, where was the holiday, what does she look like, what was she suffering from. I think my teacher will be not amused

Love that book, read it a few months ago. I couldn't put it down. I read it in two days. That's something 'cause I'm so lazy. It has to be a really good book to do that. ;D

Well, I did finish Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, but not in time to meet with the book club people! I wasn't able to make it to the meeting anyway though, so no big deal. I did enjoy the book, though the ending left me a bit melancholy (even though it wasn't a typical sad ending but was more metaphorical in nature). I'm back to reading American Gods now! I'm a little less than halfway through. Raspy, how are you liking it so far? Or have you already finished it? All of his descriptions of places are eerily familiar thus far, because a lot of the story takes place in Wisconsin and Illinois! I've been to House on the Rock, and I remember the huge weird carousel and the "Infinity Room" and all the instruments that played themselves and everything! I went way back when I was in junior high with my parents, my sister, and my Grandpa Pete and late Grandma El on my dad's side. My parents have pictures of the place somewhere in one of our albums, and I'm dying to pour through them again now, . I'm also familiar with Little Egypt in southern Illinois, because I went to school in southeast Missouri and befriended some people from southern Illinois. I've actually been to Cairo (and it really is pronounced Kay-ro there)! So weird. ~Lisa

Hey Lisa! No, I'm not so far yet... just finished reading the part when Shadow's -dead- wife visits him at the hotel. So not so far. I just haven't had much time or energy to read. I always read before going to bed and lately, I just jump in and sleep. But I like it so far, tho was really spooked when reading the part of his dead wife! Is really cool that you have been to all these places tho, must feel really weird and cool at the same time for you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with those places.

I'm reading this absolutely fabulous book, White Oleander. I saw the movie a while back, and wasn't even aware there was a book. I found it at the library and I am OBSESSED! I even had a really weird dream last night, where I was the main character, Astrid, and ahhhh was it intense.

I just finished reading the latest Dragonlance book which i had to have Amazon import over from the US... Amber and Iron. It's the second book in a trilogy, and ended on a HUGE world shaking cliff-hanger. And now i have to wait for the damn author to write the next book, damn'it! Probably the best part of a year before i can find out what happens in the third part. ARGH!
