Saw a review of it on BBC's 'Film 2006' the other night. Jonathan Ross ripped it to bits... Teeny, tiny, ickle bits. It was quite funny really, as he first built it up as "This year's Lord of the Rings..." (basically repeating the marketing the film's being given) and then without even changing the tone of his voice just tore every single part of the film apart. Harsh, but funny. He ended by saying that the worst thing was his daughter would be desperate to go see the film and he'd have to force himself to sit through it all over again, but that even worse would be how disappointed he knew his daughter would be after having watched it as well. I have to admit that i haven't seen a single positive thing by anyone about the film (and as someone who loves fantasy films i tend to see reviews by people who specialise in SF/Fantasy/Horror, so i usually see at least one positive review written by someone). All things point to 'Avoid at all costs!'. Doesn't look as bad as the 'Dungeons & Dragons' movie at least, but that's a bit like saying drowning doesn't look to be quite as bad as burning. Sucks not to have a good fantasy film for the end of the year. It's become a bit of a tradtion since LOTR.

Um... Speaking of getting "excited" about movies... I just looked over at my tv, only to see James Spader masturbating onto the back of a woman who was bent over in front of him. Then i turned away and looked back a few moments later, only to see the woman walk into another room (with a very obvious wet patch on her back ) and start masturbating against a wall. :sus: So... This is 'Secretary' then?

In the right role James Spader is fantastic. I love Boston Legal - James Spader and William Shatner on the same show! How could anyone resist! ;D By the way, Secretary was actually quite good. Good in a "Some of this is a bit cringe-worthy" kind of way. James Spader was excellent in the film (the character really is quite similar to his role in Boston Legal, except more repressed). There were one or two moments where i found myself spotting little errors, and one sequence which i felt was in danger of tipping the movie over the point where it wouldn't be able to recover from (it did recover tho, and well at that). But over all it turned out to be a much funnier, enjoyable movie than i'd expected. Much less sexual content than i'd expected too (the scene i spotted whilst i was on here last night was by far the one with the most sexual content - and in fact there was only one genuine nude sex scene in the movie, and it turned out to be quite sweet in the film's own little twisted way). Over all, not a bad film at all. Spader was the actor who really pulled the film through tho, i got the feeling it may have struggled a lot more than it did without him. And damn if Maggie Gyllenhaal didn't make the cutest screwed up dork i've ever seen in a movie. As for your book... Sounds like you didn't want to expose yourself to the pressures which come with trying to get a book published (not to mention that it's easy to feel crushed if you get some negative criticism from a publisher). If you wrote it mainly for your own enjoyment then don't let it bother you. If everyone thinks it's great and you know you could deal with the stress of having a publisher look at it, then there's no harm in sending a manuscript off and seeing what happens (just make sure to not take any harsh criticisms to heart, as i've seen so many great and eventually successful books be turned down as being not worth publishing). It's your story, your book - do with it what feels right to you. There's no need to feel pressured or rushed about deciding when it's done. There's one very highly regarded UK author for example who's been known to take up to ten years to finish just one book.

Pan's labyrinth looks AWESOME.
I loved Secretary. James Spader looks SO HOT and sexy in that movie.

I am really looking forward to Halloween 9 this October. True, the only ones worth watching are the first two, but it will be nice to see the series revamped yet again and I'm a sucker for cheesy horror movies, especially ones directed by Rob Zombie. That guy is a freak!! Devil's Rejects was one of the best horror films I have ever seen.
