I'll pm you sometime and tell you what I REALLY think about "it all". I don't wanna open up a can of worms out here... unless someone is craving worms? I have some pretty far-out ideas (pardon the pun), sort of a Jesus/Alien thing... my tarot cards (the ones I'm making) reflect this theme. I "believed" (and still believe) in things.. all sorts of things ... years before I was told not to (or told to, but for different reasons than I already had). If any of this makes sense, believe (there's that word again) me, I'd be sorta surprised. You know what my favorite bumper sticker of all time says? "Beam me up, Jesus." Sorta sums it up. Anyhoo...

Hmm... Getting scarily close to Scientology... :sus: ;D Just don't forget that Christianity (in whatever form) is only one of many many religions - most of which don't feature Jesus in any form. But by all means talk about it on the forum - you won't find many people who have a problem with anyone else's spiritual beliefs around here (we're a pretty mixed bunch when it comes to spiritual beliefs here, and anyone who makes any serious negative comments about anyone else's religion or beliefs will soon get a harsh arse kicking - especially since one of the admin's is a Wiccan ).

Well, All i know is that Christ was non-denominational. He's just alway been a part of my life, ever since i was a toddler. I actually asked my parents who he was, scared the crap outta them, too whilst inquiring. Asked them (when I was about two) who the guy was in my room at night and who always watched me. It took some time, but they finally got to the bottom of it... i kept asking them who "your-way" (Yahweh?) was. I refuse to let any orgainized religion, ESPECIALLY "Christianity" get in between me and my spirituality, which I define as my relationship with not only Christ, but the Earth, the heavens, and other people. I guess I still have alot of questions about "what's out there...", but what I DON'T believe is that we (humans) are alone in the galaxy. It's too vast, and we're still evolving. Maybe "they" are just "us", evolved. I don't know if I WANNA know who "they" are, it's just a topic that I don't believe to be taboo, necessarily, just because I know Christ. I also recall playing with fairies in the cherry blossom trees in my backyard when I was growing up, and I believe (clap, clap, clap,) that those are sound memories. Please don't call for the straight jacket... I know it sounds crazy, but those memories of the fairies mean as much to me as Christ does.

don't believe he existed, or don't believe he was the messiah? by the way, i don't believe that he's the ONLY one who was infused with a holy spirit. i think he's just the most celebrated one.

Depends who you're asking about... If you're asking if i believe there was a real man named Jesus (or a name which may have since been corrupted into the form of 'Jesus' in the many years since he died) who was a religious figure of some sort, but most definitely very very human, then yes - there's historical evidence of such a person (though i certainly don't believe he was anymore a 'messiah' than any other religious figure past or present). If you're asking if i believe in 'Jesus Christ' as portrayed in the Bible, then no - at best it's hearsay based upon a man who died at least a hundred years before that part of the Bible was written, and the Bible as it is today has been re-written and chopped and changed to suit various political and personal agendas over many hundreds of years.
As ever where religion is concerned, that's just my personal opinion. I respect the beliefs of those who would disagree with them (tho may wind them up a bit by telling them they're wrong - just because i have an evil streak... ;D).

Yes, I tend to agree with you when it comes to the Bible, and, well, everything you said above. No need to re-iterate. I guess that must be why my PERSONAL relationship with Christ (or maybe, what I believe he stood for?) is so special to me. Because no book, no preacher, no authority figure told me to believe, I just did. I also believe in a lot of things that aren't necessarily biblical, but that doesn't stop me from learning more about them and forming opinions that shape my personality and life style. I have always had a really strong spirtual base in my life, even when I was using drugs and being promiscuous and all the other "sins" ( according to judeo-christianity) that I have committed. I've always been able to "chat with the cat." When Tori wrote, "I got a Cat named Easter he says, 'will you ever learn, you're just an empty cage girl , if you kill the bird'", or "Me and Jesus a few years back used to hang and he said 'it's your choice just re-mem-ber, I don't think you'll be back in three days' time, so you choose well'", it really touched me, because it's like, she acknowledges him as a relevant presence in her life, without attaching this patriarchial dominance to it.

Well i can't speak for Tori and her beliefs in Jesus and the Bible... But the real historical evidence shows the real-life 'Jesus' to have been someone who was against organised religions, and who taught that people didn't need anyone between them and 'God' (which ironically is closer to the Wiccan belief system than any current Christian religion). He was persecuted because his beliefs went against the religious and political systems which were in place at the time, much like the church likes to shout "Heretic!" at those who try to teach and follow similar practises to this very day - and funnily enough, as the church did with the evidence showing that Jesus was also one of those people. And there's evidence that he was quite a militaristic person, and certainly not the ideal person modern Christianity likes to portray (but then they also like to pretend he was a white anglo-saxon, which is the one thing everyone can be 100% certain is historically incorrect).
Personally i wish the Bible just consisted of one page which simply said "For fuck's sake will you all just get along!". Now that i'd believe in.

;D Yes... you and I agree on quite a few points. It's actually always seemed strange to classify myself as a Christian... because of how the essence of Christ has been twisted and mottled. Look at the Crusades, or even holy wars of late. The Bible talks about Christ having hair the texture of lamb's wool. Definitely not a caucasian head of hair!! Dug up an interesting photo... doesn't have anything to do with the thread, I just thought it was sorta kewl/strange. It's the former guitarist for the band KORN, Brian "Head" Welch, getting baptized. Sorta looks like Jesus, don't he?

I have people telling me i look like freaking Jesus these days, now that i wear my beard a bit longer and my hair has got really long again. As a long-time pagan it gets slightly irritating, i can tell you. ;D

Here's one for you: Also, thought I'd share a story with you: about a year ago, an eight year old daughter of a friend shared a picture for me that she had just drawn. In it, Christ was black, and wearing a blue robe. He was surrounded by children, some of which were smiling, some of which were crying, some were holding his hand, one was even picking a flower next to Jesus' feet. He had his arms outstretched, and he had his head tipped back, as if he were appealing to the heavens. On the bottom of the drawing, she had written, "Jesus was a white witch who died alone." I asked her who had taught her that, and she said, "why? Isn't it right?" and I told her it was probably a lot more accurate that anything I'd heard lately, and she said, "nobody told me. It's just what I believe". And there you have it -- out of the mouth of a little girl. Reason for Editing: repost picture

Sorry, only read this today... Nice one. As the saying goes: "Out of the mouths of babes." Bet it wouldn't get her a good mark in a 'Religious Education' class sadly. ;D

Another cute "out of the mouths of babes": My stepson, Nathan (whom I've posted a picture of here at the Afterglow...in the 'got a cloud' section under the heading "yay"), commented to me when he was all of four, that if the Holy Spirit was so much larger than we were, and if people were filled with the Holy Spirit, that it (the Holy Spirit) should then spill out onto other people. Logically.
