My mother discovered The Suffering, Ties That Bind for $25 at Big W, so I figured I could afford it and got it... Its not as good as the first one, and I kept getting really stuck, buts its okay. Not that I have finished the first one yet! Pretty much ties (no joke intended) in with everything i've heard. I think that once it left the prison island setting of the first game it was inevitable it would lose a little of what made the original special. Sadly my copy is still sat waiting to be played for the first time thanks to some HD tv issues which cut out most of the gaming time i've been able to find in a fair while. But... Bookbunny, you've got to finish The Suffering before playing the 2nd game - the 2nd game actually reads the save from the first game so that it can continue the storyline from the ending you get in the original game. Having said that i don't know how much it actually changes the 2nd game from how it is without an original gamesave. Oh, and i didn't realise games were still so expensive over there in Aussie land. Over here you can save a fortune if you buy from online stores instead of the highstreet shops - The Suffering 2 can be found for £10 for example. In fact games for all the out-going systems can be found quite cheap even in the large highstreet stores if you're willing to look around enough. Really sucks that it's still so expensive over there. Having said that, games on the new systems are insanely expensive - you can find 360 stuff cheap if you know where to look online but the shop prices are always between £40 and £60, and Sony have said that PS3 games will probably be around £60 to £70! My latest game purchases have mainly been finally getting my hands on some old classics i missed out on years ago and which weren't available to buy here until the last month or so... The Baldurs Gate Collection (includes all games and expansion packs), and the Fallout Collection. Now i'm just hoping that Planescape Torment finally gets a rerelease after it being unavailable here for years due to some stupid legal problems - i've come so close for so long to buying the game on import or second hand (second hand prices starting around £20, which is more than a bit frustrating since at one point i could have got the DVD version of the game for as little as £5 - not to mention that in the US it's only $7!), so a rerelease would be very welcome. I also picked up Top Spin 2 on the 360 after finally finding it cheap. Missed out on getting the 360 version of Oblivion for only £25 tho, which really sucked.

(not that anyone else still plays SF2)! Actually it's still hugely popular. ;D They've just released collections of all the different versions of the games on all the different systems, and it's just been released on Xbox Live Marketplace (a part of Microsoft's Xbox online service where you can buy small games to download) where people had been demanding it for months and it instantly became one of the most popular downloads. Street Fighter 2 seems more popular than ever right now. When i worked at Ocean Software we used to have Street Fighter 2 mini tournaments. ;D There were a couple of guys there who were almost unbeatable. One guy (who's still in the industry leading the test dept. over at Criterion who are currently best known for the Burnout games) was insanely good at beat'em ups. In countless games of SF2 over 14 months i think i managed to beat him in all of 2 rounds - note that's individual rounds and not games!

Actually Teppic... $25 aussie dollars is about 10 pounds (I dont know how to do pounds sign on here).
New games over here are about $80-$100 for the popular ones (about 30-40pounds), I buy very few though. I only own 6 games. PZ-Crimson Butterfly $25, PZ-the Tormented $45, Hunting Ground about $20, The suffering about $27, Siren $25 and Suffering 2 $25. I just do not get the time and most games dont hold my interest to finish them or even try to finish them. My boyf has about 45 xbox games I play on and off, including Project Zero 1, dead or alive, one of the abes. But yeah I dont spend much on games, and like to try finish those I have if I have the time to ever finish them.

Ah right... I must have been thinking of a different exchange rate to the pound. Sounds as if it's about the same really. It seems pretty rare i finish games these days. It's my own fault as i buy them quicker than i can play. But i know i talked about it earlier in the thread so won't bore everyone with it again. ;D

I have a Playstation that I use for playing Final Fantasy VII (though my copy seems too old and scratched up now, will have to replace it) and VIII (until my sister lost the first disc that is, need to replace that too). I also have a PS2, so far the only game I'm good at on that is Kingdom Hearts (which I've beat), though I'm looking forward to eventually getting Final Fantasy X and FF VII: Dirge of Cerebrus

A Japanese RPG fan i see. I enjoy a good RPG but the Japanese ones almost always have lots of random battles in them which really grind me down until i just can't bring myself to put the disc back in (which is a pity as i'm a huge fan of Japanese style artwork and story telling). I think i over educated myself with game design to the point where it often effects my enjoyment of lots of games now - instead of just relaxing and enjoying the game i find myself getting annoyed at how a game will make you do pointless things over and over just to pad out the playing time. By the way, if you're looking at 'Dirge of Cerberus' just going from the Final Fantasy VII prefix and don't know anything more about it, then you may want to have a search around online to read about it before you spend anything. It's not an RPG, but rather an action game more along the lines of the 'Devil May Cry' series (it also got some quite poor reviews and disappointed a lot of Final Fantasy fans who had been looking forward to the game for a long time). I just thought i should point it out as it's really easy to make the mistake of expecting it to be like all the other FF games if you don't read gaming magazines and websites.

Jazz Jackrabbit?! Holy crappolly! Now you've gone right back to when i was working in the dark heart of the games industry... Oh no, this can only mean one thing: flashbacks of testing bloody Mighty Max on the Megadrive for 24+ hours straight. Or for a game more in the same style... Mr Nutz!

Not a lot to explain... I used to work as a games tester back in the mid 90's. The company used to release lots of platform games, not unlike the one you mentioned (which also came out about the same time). Working crazy hours (i did several 24 hour 'shifts', and once was even asked to work 48 hours but refused - working two days straight without sleep didn't strike me as a good idea) playing through the same crap game over and over and over again. Lets just say that the idea it could be fun to be a games tester quickly wore off.

And my all time favourite DIABLO 2This game took 3 years of my life away ;D But in a good way hahahahha... I remember playing project zero 2 and sitting there in the arvos with the controller, and often also with my pigeon in my lap. It only took me about 3 months playing for an hour at a time (everyone in my family hates watching me play). But I have never felt like it was wasted time.
