lol!
actually my pigeon is disabled (cant walk or fly), but he is really mean most of the time, so Im sure he would defend me. He is happiest in my lap, but he always attacked the controller (it kept my hand from patting him).

ok.... I need recommendations!
I just got a PS2 not too long ago... (mostly so I could improve my Tekken skillz) ... and now I want recommendations for fun/good games.
In the playstation world... Is there anything that resembles Zelda? Those are the games I like to play. I also had a kick ass time renting GTA San Andreas... Anyway... Just give me games that kick ass so I can get them!

Woah, have i got some treats for you...! Beyond Good & Evil Write this name down. Run to the nearest games shop. Pay very little money to the nice person behind the counter. Take game home. Put disc in PS2. Witness one of the best games of all time (and one which sadly wasn't even a hundredth as successful as it deserved to be - hence it costing little money). It's very much a Zelda style game in the way that it plays. But it's that rare thing; a Zelda style game that is as good as (a few have even claimed better than) Zelda itself. I really can't recommend it enough. You should also check out... Psychonauts Another all time great which was painfully unsuccessful thanks mainly to publishers messing the developers about (the game came close to being scrapped even though it was almost complete because its publisher decided at the last moment that they weren't interested in releasing it, and then it was given a very messed up release where all its marketing was done months before the game actually came out in Europe). The game is more like a platformer than a Zelda style adventure game, but has some very Zelda-like elements. It's an extremely wacky game and very funny. Again it shouldn't cost much thanks to it not having sold in high amounts. You really can't go wrong with either of these games (although i put 'Beyond Good & Evil' first in this case simply because it's much closer to the Zelda style of gameplay). Both are games that everyone should play at some point. On a critical level they were both very highly rated everywhere, and if it wasn't for a few outside factors both games would have probably sold very well. And finally i can't leave the post without also mentioning... IcoAnd... Shadow of the Colossus Both games made by the same Japanese developer, and exclusive games to the PS2. I've listed them last as whilst they both have stories which are much more like Zelda than the previous games, they put much more emphasis on puzzles than adventure. They're both very artistic games and while the worlds you play in are very beautiful fantasy settings, the story of each game is left very vague and open to interpretation in a lot of ways. Neither game has a usual "story" really (and what story there is in both games doesn't have any humour, unlike the other games i've mentioned), and in many ways playing through them is more like an experience than a traditional game. 'Ico' is generally considered the stronger game of the two, but both are pretty much unmissable. The only warning i need to give is that both games are quite short - you're looking at a total play time of around 8 to 10 hours each ('Beyond Good & Evil' and 'Psychonauts' are both much longer if you'd rather a game last something like one of the Zelda games do). There you go - four of the greatest games ever made.

How sad is it that i really enjoyed spending about an hour going through a Google image search for jpegs of the game boxes that fit perfectly in the post. I really think you'd love BG&E. There's just something unexpectedly a bit special about it. I think the visual design of the lead character makes people expect the game to be less special than it really is (originally the design of the character was much more distinct, but the publisher behind the game put pressure on the development team to make her look more "realistic"). The longer you play the game, the more you realise just how much love was put into it. Peter Jackson (yep, as in the LOTR Peter Jackson) is supposed to be a huge fan of the game, and specifically went to the developers to ask them to do the game of his King Kong remake after playing BG&E. There are a lot of people crying out for a sequel now (the game was originally intended to be the first part of a trilogy), but the publisher still doesn't seem entirely convinced it would sell enough to be worth the cost. Psychonauts is just insane and funny. It's like coming across a cult movie where you feel the need to memorise every line of dialogue so that you can quote it at people. ;D There's so much imagination in everything that it's unbelievable to think it was originally turned down for release because the publisher felt it just wasn't right for the market. A few people find one or two of the platform sections a bit difficult, but most people fall in love with the game as soon as they see the intro. Even the title screen has more imagination than most games! (Yes, you do actually walk around the brain to select the various game options...)

Nice one! I hope you enjoy it after me raving about it to you so much. Hope i didn't build it up too much for you... That's always a risk when someone keeps going on about how good something is. Am pretty sure you'll love it tho if you wanted a Zelda style game.

Glad you like BG&E Jill... Jamne... I've only ever heard of a FFVII remake as an internet rumour. Square Enix, the developer of the FF games, is always having to deny that they're going to do a remake as a new rumour pops up every few months. The last rumour started due to a PS3 dev video which Square Enix showed a while back as an example of how their work was coming along getting used to the PS3, but they quickly pointed out that the video didn't contain anything which was intended to become a game - it was just a 'tech demo' and nothing else. I did a quick check in case i'd missed anything that may have leaked out recently, but the last story i can find was from May (there's a news story about it HERE). There was a spin off released a while back called 'Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus', which i mentioned earlier in this thread. But it's not a role player - it's a 3rd person action game, and sadly not very good according to those who've played it. There's a review HERE (the magazine reviews were even harder on the game). There's also the animated movie spin off, 'Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children'. I've only seen clips of it myself so can't really give much of an opinion about how well it continues the story from the game. A lot of reviews i read of the film said that whilst it looks beautiful (and seriously, it does!), it's not got a very good plot. Final Fantasy fans seem a bit divided in opinion about it, with some loving it and other outright hating it. If you loved the game it's probably worth tracking down to watch though. As for if a remake will ever happen... I'd be surprised if the game isn't re-released at some point. I'm not sure how much of a remake any re-release would be however. One of the guys from Square Enix claimed it would take about 5 years for them to develop a true remake. I've heard rumours of the game being released for the PSP handheld system at some point, but it's never been confirmed. A PSP version would probably not be all that different than the original anyway. There've also been rumours about it being made available on the PS3's game download service at some point, but again it's not confirmed and would probably not be any different than the PSOne original. So any talk of a true remake is probably just wishful thinking by hardcore FFVII fans as things are at the moment. Best game ever? There's a real case could be made that it is. I'm not so sure i'd be one of the people to agree however. I was working at the UK's biggest games chainstore when the game was first released in Europe, and i honestly couldn't say how many people i recommended FFVII to based upon all the good things i'd heard (and i'm a huge fan of another Square RPG called 'The Secret of Mana' which came out on the SNES). When i finally got enough time to sit down and play the game myself tho, the random battles just killed the game for me. I love the art design, the music, and everything i saw of the story, but being forced into a random fight every few steps just frustrated me to the point where i couldn't keep playing. I've always said i'd go back and finish it, but as soon as the random battles kick in it loses me sadly. I can easily see why so many people find it the best RPG of all time (and best game full-stop for many). For me personally, i think i'd go for 'Panzer Dragoon Saga' on the Sega Saturn for best Japanese RPG (pity it's so difficult to find a copy and you need a Saturn to play it, as i think you'd probably love that game). My personal best game ever would probably have to go to either 'Super Mario Kart' on the SNES, or 'Zelda III: A Link to the Past' also on the SNES. Or maybe the original Doom. There are so many games which i consider the best of their type that i honestly don't think i could actually force myself to pick a personal "best ever game". Not without going insane anyway...

Thanks Andrew. I read something similar that it would be released on PS3. Who knows. One can always hope, as what I think the serious fans are doing at the moment. For me the game is really 'ethreal' in a way. The whole story and the characters. The best bad guy and the best ancient, martyr Lady. I'm very easily drawn to these human but magical creatures (T.A.). ;D My cousin was playing "Secret of Mana". I've seen only parts of it, so have to check it out proberly. And I FECKING love that SNES Mario Kart! Reason for Editing: ...

And I FECKING love that SNES Mario Kart! And Jill... I bet you're already past where i got up to in BG&E at the rate you're playing. ;D I keep waiting in hope of an update to the Xbox360 Backwards Compatibility so that i can play the game on that in high definition (even if it would mean me starting from the beginning all over again). Alas the latest update still doesn't include it. Maybe next time (there's only usualy about a 6 month wait between updates ). Psychonauts was finally added in the last update tho!
