In soap related news, I just read a great book. It's a memoir by Rachel DeWoskin, who now teaches poetry at Boston University, but who used to be a star in the Chinese soap opera "Foreign Babes in Beijing" (which is also the title of the book). It's a really intelligent book about negotiating between Chinese and Euro/American cultures and about how soaps exist between them. I reccomend it.

IOMG the dialogue is soooo bad its hilarious!! "and now we must prove our strenghts with our light sabers" or something like that Yes, but the star wars dialogue has always been horrendous. That in attack of the clones is actually considerably better edited and less incoherent than it is in A New Hope. Not that the movie over all is nearly as good, but still...

I was going to go at midnight. They opened a new movie theater in my town and the grand opening was at 12:01 and they were playing Star wars Episode III so I was going to go but no money. You should sneak in....God knows George Lucas doesn't need the money.

I was begining to worry I was the only nerd here.
I completely agree about the 1st half/2nd half break down. But yes, once it got moving it was really pretty powerful. Ewan McGregor was really great, and I thought that the last 20 minutes or so really tied it together with A New Hope. The only scene in the second half that really bugged me was the birth of the twins - I just didn't understand why they had to be delivered by silly looking robots or why Yoda and Bail Organa had to be standing around watching through the glass. I mean, give the girl some privacy...

Saw Episode III last night at midnight. Without giving any spoilers for those who haven't seen it, I'll just say that it was really quite good, though probably not the equal of any of the original films. Anyone else seen it yet? Comments, criticisms ? Don't make me feel like I'm the biggest dork on the forum.

The Burbs. I know, cheesy, but I love it! To which one can only reply: "Where you goin' Pinocchio?"

Not very original here but...The Royal Tenenbaums, and then probably Boogie Nights.
It's all Anderson, all the time here.

It's interesting to hear so many positive appraisals of Neil's novels. I love Sandman (I actually own most of the original issues), but always found his prose style a bit unsatisfying.
My vote is for Delerium.

I love this album.
My first impression is that Bertie and Sunset are as good as anything on The Hounds of Love.

It may be their weakest album, but then again, that's still a far cry better than a lot of people's best albums.
I think that perhaps some of the song writing is not as tight as their earlier work. on the other hand, I really like the fact that it sounds spontaneous, that it just sounds like a couple of people playing music in a room, not doing a hundred takes to get it exactly right.
I've only listened to it a few times, so I suppose I should give it a while before passing any further judgement.
