I'd love to see some of your creations Sarah...
I love anything handmade and wish more people did handmade. Even when you use a pattern to make something yours is always unique cause you add your self to it.

I saw this lady on Martha Stewart, and I think her bears and other creations are so cute! I make a lot of stuff using felt, so it was interesting to see what someone else does with felt. She made these little bunnies with martha and I thought they were so cute that I may have to give them a go! www.jmurphybears.com/

Last year I went to Estes Park, Colorado and got to stay a night at the Stanley Hotel. This is where King got the idea for the book and stayed while he was writing a good portion of it. They also filmed the ABC Miniseries there. It was a fantastic creepy night! Ohh RAD!!! I went to look for Rose Madder today and there were none, stupid Borders! meanwhile alst time Borders had ZERO copies of THE Stand, and today there were about 20! I may buy The Dark Tower box set in a few pays time. At the mo. my King book is Everythings Eventual. Wanting to read 1408 before the film drops.

Absolutely...
I love indulging in Stephen King because I find them such easy books to just sit and read and be taken into and think about. After studying lit. I find I am more inclined to books that are considered low brow by so many. My boyfriend gives me so much crap for liking Stephen King, as do others, its like because I have a lit degree I should be trailing a host of unenjoyable books (however I give ppl crap for liking Dan Brown, and self help books).
I have always really enjoyed Stephen Kings characters, and when some appear elsewhere and you are like OMG its so and so! I love that his stories overlap as well...esp in Buick 8 where I'm going the driver is a "low man" (from Low Men in Yellow Raincoats in Hearts in Atlantis) and then have other ppl say yeah he was a low man.
In my mind I also compare and conflate Stephen King and John Irving. Maybe it the New Hampshire/Maine thing, but I generally think its the characters...I could easily steal Homer Wells and put him in some SK story.
Also in The Stand there is a Garp reference.

Yeah...I remember the tv series however not clearly, I was prob 14 when it was on over here, I cant remember much at all, but thinking of molly ringwald as Frannie doesnt work at all...
I also cant picture Matt Frewer as trashcan man.

^ The Stand is pretty cool I read it in winter while I was having a slight cold (what probably made it a bit more scarier for me... ;D) besides those I started It and Pet Cemetary ( I'm not really sure whether these are the correct original titles, I read them all in the german translation.. ) but I never finished them, because I found them too boring Yeah, reading The Stand here at the moment is unsettling consdiering the flu has killed at least 3 ppl on the east coast of Australia. I absolutely loved It...though I can understand how someone could be bored by it. I havent read Rose Madder, so I will add that to my read sooner list...

What are y'alls fave King books?
I really love Stephen King and right now I am reading The Stand. I had so much trouble finding this book, but really glad I did find it because it is amazing!!!
My other faves would have to be Hearts in Atlantis, The Shining and Different Seasons.
I am working my way through his catelogue slowly and have read so many. The only book so far I havent enjoyed was Dreamcatcher, I couldnt get into it...

I finished it last week, really didnt want it to end...Just loved it...Such a perfect read. I am wanting to re-read the whole series now.... I found Snapes recount sooo harrowing...I always knew he was good, and every time at the end of the book it turned out he was still seen as evil I would just get sooo disappointed! I am so in love with all the good side characters after this...esp Neville! just thinking about it is making me I would love to see this magically world continue, poss focusing on other characters...I think it would be interesting to see what changes were implimented after Voldemort went down...

I am up to The Wedding chapter (I read really slowly)... I already knew most of who was going to live and who die...When I got home with the book my mum (she knew I was going to get it from cheapo Kmart) asked me as soon as I walked in "did you get harry potter"..."yes" ..."can I see it, who dies?" "I havent looked at it yet" Poor mum, I was out all day as I went to a womens safety seminar (and got to go on tv...not only were the harry book buying fans on tele that day!) she must have spent the whole day sitting around being feverish and delirious (Flu's going around) wondering who was going to die... im glad Hary doesnt die, I didnt want him to, but at the same time...If it wasnt meant to be primarily a kids book, I woulda liked Harry to die...

I have an interest in puppets in general, and when searching today for marionettes I found this site you guys might to look at... www.czechmarionettes.com/The female puppets by Axamitova are really nice! Another absolutely spectatular site is Puppet House in Tokyo. We didnt go there when we were over there, and its one of my big regrets (will go with boyf next year, its closed sunday and monday which would have been the best days for us to go to Iidabashi -its a bit difficult to get to-), but these Puppets blow my mind! www.puppet-house.co.jp/

I dont watch a lot on the television but I have DVDs of Six Feet Under Twin Peaks
We watch a lot of cooking shows, cartoons (simpsons, family guy, king of the hill), Australias and America Next top model (tho these are past their used by date I think, and are getting tedious).
Last night we watched Who wants to be a Superhero, which has just started here (I think its from last year). Its pretty damn bad, but addictive.

My sister and I are going to get tattoos...Her idea was for matching AFI tattoos, but I doubt they will end up matching...Im not sure if I will even end up with an AFI one...I really would like the keywork (see the circle pattern in my sig), thats the keywork...or something as simple as "co&ca", but I wouldnt want a tattooist to cock up the keywork. i am considering the AFI bat from art of drowning with the words "I remain..." (this phrase finishes "...in shadows growing wings", which to me is very positive, and in the context of the song is positive (I think, all the depressive young emos listening prob see if differently).
But for me it'll be a really hard thing to find the right image...I will definately sit down with my sister and go over heaps of images. I would also go for something like a pumpkin...I will also go mad trying to find the right words...
I am also thinking something Ghibli...as kinda a memento of my trip...I would love to some smiling happy ghibli bat!

heyhey all...
(BTW unsure where to post this so admins etc move it if it fits better elsewhere)...
Some of you will know that I do a regular zine* called The Revenant Romantic. This zine has been lucky enough to score interviews with some of the best local bands and clothing labels around Brisbane. This zine is a collaboration with my sister so I dont always get to address things I would like to or include things I would like to.
So I am in the process of working on a new zine. I dont have a name yet, I figure that it will make itself known as I work on it more. The idea for this zine is current issues, educational/knowledge stuff, reviews, general interesting things, pics/illustrations etc. This zine will come out on my small publishing/distro label "The Little Orchard."
If anyone wants to contribute please do, the biggest hurdle any zine maker faces is contributors (most people dont wanna do something for nothing in a small local zine unless they have a connection to zines). I really dont turn down anything (unless it is prejudice, supports degradation, or cruelty to animals).
I cannot give people an ETA on when the zine will be done (that all depends on how much other stuff I gotta do). But any contributors will get a free copy, and copies will be available to everyone else through my distro (I send free catalogues world wide).
So if you have an idea for something let me know and we can discuss some sorta evolution. Or if you have something that is already in existence let me know.
If you want more info just post here...
*Zine...my zines are b&w cutxpaste. General definition of a zine, small print run, personal, or genre specific, or fan based...a magazine but cooler!
