Currently watching 'Old Grey Whistle Test Vol 2' on DVD. Classic Roxy Music, Be-Bop Deluxe, Patti Smith, The Who, Siouxsie, OMD and loads of others.....fantastic.

Too many films these days employ the "shakey-cam" and it IS distracting. However, I have to say that The Bourne Ultimatum was still my film of the year and the series in general is first-rate.

I Am Legend - yesterday. Really enjoyable. Will Smith is good but is upstaged by his dog! Slightly disappointing ending but it would still make my top ten movies of the year.

'Saw 3'. Pretty good but the weakest of the Saw movies to date.

Snakes On A Plane! It plays out like a 70's disaster movie and is bloody entertaining from start to finish. The plot is ludicrous, particularly once the action switches to the plane but you know what? It doesn't matter a jot...this is not a film to be taken seriously. Special effects are really good considering it looks and has the feel of a low budget film. Samuel Jackson is as cool as ever and has no trouble at all standing out in a cast made up largely of nobodies (and consequently snake victims). Worth the price of the ticket for just one line...."I've had it with these muthafucking snakes on this muthafucking plane!!!" ;D

Another couple of free DVD's watched last night in the name of "research" and both films I deliberately ignored on their cinema release. Firstly, The Hills Have Eyes, a remake of Wes Craven's 1977 er....classic? Always thought it was overrated myself but anyway...this new version was directed by Alexandre Aja of 'Switchblade Romance' fame so it promised a lot. The problem I had was that I know the original very well and this hardly deviated from the plot so nothing came as a surprise. Looking at it objectively though, it's a good horror film in its own right and should be enjoyed by anyone who did not see the original. Next up.... The FogYes, another horror remake and sadly one that still has John Carpenter's name on it...as a Producer. He should never have allowed this to happen. Maybe he needed the money? Awful, hammy performances by a D-list cast and some piss-poor special effects....not to mention the complete absence of any real horror whatsoever. Rent the 80's original if you want to see an atmospheric horror film....better still, watch Carpenter's 'The Thing' - his finest couple of hours.

I saw Hard Candy yesterday...it was a pretty good psychological thriller with some unexpected plot twists and some uncomfortable viewing for blokes! Ellen Page (a 19 year old looking very convincing as a 14 year old) is excellent as Hayley, the girl who lures a pedophile in an attempt to expose his secrets. I'd definitely recommend this one.

Wait! You can put a good spin on this and defend you taste in dvd rentals even better... All you have to say is that your girlfriend - through working at Blockbuster - had heard how awful this film was, and used her free rental privilege to prevent some poor innocent sucker from accidentally paying their hard earned money only to discover they'd rented a total turd of a movie. Suddenly you and your girlfriend are hero's! Remember - there is always positives in any negatives. ;D LMAO ;D No, I stand by my original statement...I have VERY broad shoulders!

You actually watched that Jappy? Man, the adverts for it alone were pissing me off last week. ;D ;D I know, I know...in my defence, my girlfriend is a manager at Blockbuster and gets loads of free rentals so we sometimes get silly and watch complete shit! No way would I have paid to see it!

'Feed' on DVD....so bad I hardly know where to start! Let's just say AVOID THIS MOVIE AT ALL COSTS - IT SUCKS. Thank goodness I watched an old favourite (Die Hard 2) afterwards to clear my head! ;D

I just saw Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth at the theater yesterday, and I urge everyone in the United States (and possibly other nations if it's available) to go see this movie! It's so sobering, and I am now convinced that something must be done to reverse the effects of global warning (well, I was convinced before but now I feel even more strongly about it than I did before). Polar bears are literally DROWNING because there isn't enough ice for them to live on at the North Pole. And all the extreme weather we're having is most likely a result of global warming. Oh well, maybe the dolts we have in office will finally be convinced once the entire San Francisco Bay area and parts of Manhatten are under water. ~Lisa Wow, that sounds like one powerful movie. I will definitely go see this. (just checked and it doesn't open in the UK until September )

I watched 'Munich' on DVD yesterday. It was excellent and not quite the film I was expecting. Eric Bana's performance was really good.

Still don't fancy Kate Beckinsale though despite the plethora of gratuitous "arse shots". (and yes I've checked...I still have a penis) ;D [Files under evidence questioning Jappy's sexuality.]
Move along - nothing to see here... LMAO ;D It's okay, I watched a Sandra Bullock movie and got a reaction in the trouser area. Call off the police!
