I wasn't blind, I just didn't really know what to say. It made me think of Tori (of course), and how I can "see" her music when I close my eyes and listen. And of the colors of her voice, depending on the song. Like Spark, so many blues and deep purples and red. Is that what you were getting at?

Looked good to me... I keep debating whether to join MySpace or not. It's so huge... I'm more into the smaller more individualized forums. It's funny that they're classified as "Christian Rap..." Since when?!

I don't know about the MySpace, because I don't post there, but if you go to www.stormlarge.com , you can join the forum there, and Storm actually reads those posts and posts there herself. I even got a couple of PM's from her and her old man, Davey. He and I know each other from like a million years ago in Portland, Oregon when he played bass for a band called the Sweaty Nipples.

Okay, I know this is the second Storm Large thread I've started. I recently dove into all of the Storm material I could find to explore her work more thoroughly. I didn't want to base my new-found obsession merely on what she showed on Rockstar:Supernova. While she kicked some serious ass on that show, I know that not everyone is into reality television (or even had the benefit of seeing it in their country), so I thought I'd provide a few links of her performing with one of her old bands, Storm Inc. The first link actually IS her performance of "Ladylike" on Rockstar:Supernova, and the very last link is her and her recent band, The Balls, performing "I want you to Die" (that's her man, Davey, on bass!)... But the three links in the center... those are the real gold. I love this woman's performances so much. PLEASE check at least ONE of the middle three links out, and tell me what you think. I'm anxious to hook more people on her music, she's so good. Well, see for yourself: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEVn1ygSmp4 ("Ladylike") www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvKK8HSZDVw ("Beautiful") www.youtube.com/watch?v=umEKvXyhJmo ("Jeremiah") www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_SpZ8oldxg ("Great Day") www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjFrtmvIh_g ("I want you to die"~ she gets pissed off at the end of the song because this guy in the audience is talking on his cell phone while she's performing, so she takes it from him! Reminds me of the "hey lady in the white shirt" version of "the waitress...") I hope you enjoy these! Tell me what you think, and if you like what you do see, then this is the link to all of her mp3 and video downloads: www.stormdownloads.com/

Nick Drake was one of the best lyricists ever. Word.And... I dunno how "into" Duran Duran any of y'all were. But I think they have some brilliant lyrics. Does anyone know... I think Simon LeBon wrote most of the lyrics, or was it Nick Rhodes? Collaborative? And... I've been checking out David Sylvian's work lately, and I concur with Jamne... he is a poet's poet. I don't know who writes for Screaming Trees, but I'll go ahead and give Mark Lanegan the credit unless someone wants to correct me... (Those are just the ones that came to mind off the top of my head... I'll surely add more later...)

Wow, funny you should ask. I work at a hotel (at the front desk), and this guy started hangin out in the lobby at night to watch "South Park" on the lobby t.v. (didn't want his kids to watch it...) Anyhow, we would chit-chat, and started talking music one night. Of course I brought up Tori. So then he brings up... Happy Rhodes. The way he described her music, I was so intrigued. He asked if he could have my email so he could email me a few links to her music. Well, much to my surprise, about two weeks ago, I get a package in the mail at my work, with two Happy Rhodes cds in it! One is "Many Worlds are born tonight", and the other is a compilation CD with this and that of her earlier work on it. Turns out, the guy is a personal friend of hers. I even got a personal note (handwritten by Happy) thanking me for my interest in her music, and sending me love and blessings! I thought she must be a very lovely person to have extended her work to a stranger like that, just because I said I wanted to hear it! I've listened to most of it... I find that Happy, like Tori, is better digested (by me, anyway,) in small bits and slowly. Happy is much more techno than Tori is, but the thread is definitely there. I feel a connection to the earth when I hear Happy's music. It's so cool that you brought her up!
Now... could I interest you in some Storm Large ?! ;D
Reason for Editing: doin' some Storm pimpin'....

OOF!! The second set of lyrics hit me like a sledgehammer... I lost custody of my kids eight years ago, and I really related to them. I will definitely check out more of this artists' work. Lyrics are so important, you know? Sometimes they save an entire song for me. You don't have a link or an mp3 you can share for "Mother and Child", do you ?
