Forgive me if there is already a thread for the acoustic goddess, but I don't feel like looking ;D Let's show some love! I just saw her live last Saturday and she is AMAZING live. And I can't find a bad studio album [One a year since 1990?!].

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE ANI!
I saw her for the first time last year, when she was still pregnant (and about to pop!)
She's as good as it gets. And a true poet.
Her, Tori, and PJ are absolute goddesses!
I hear she's working on a new album for the fall. I hope it's true! Cuz I can't wait!

^ oh sorry didn't know there were any >.< but Little Plastic Castle is in my top tier of Ani albums...and yeah her newest is so-so. Reprieve is probably my least fav that I've heard from her. But Knuckle Down is AMAZING. 1. Dilate 2. Reckoning 3. Knuckle Down 4. Little Plastic Castle My top 4

its weird, Ive heard many people say that her earlier albums are better than her more recent ones. But I couldn't disagree more. While I love each and every one of her albums, I'm completely drawn to her newest work. Reprieve is close to being my favorite... though I couldnt possibly pick one! I think it's stunning from front to back, start to finish.
Her music has definately changed. I feel almost as if her earlier works were about her words, whereas her newest work has a huge focus on the music itself, not just the message. Which works really nicely.
I hafta say that I loved the re-recorded versions of songs she did for Canon. She took 5 relatively simple, bare songs, and gave them musical depth and physical depth, not just lyrical depth.
But I dont want to sound like im knocking her earlier work. Cuz, frankly, she's always been brilliant, and she'll always be brilliant.

^ YES EXACTLY! I truly love all of Ani's albums, for different reasons. And, Ani IS releasing a new album Sept. 30th called "Red Letter Year", it's mentioned on her website, though no tracklisting yet. A live version of the song Red Letter Year was released on the Itunes version of Reprieve, so i guess we will soon hear what she did with it in the studio. Can't wait!!

I hope it's better than Reprieve. Though I liked it, it lacked something...

A New Song called "Smiling Underneath" is up on her semi-official myspace page. profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=85635629I like it. You can definately tell where her head's at, though. It's nice that she's happy. I remember when I saw in live when she was pregnant she talked about how happy she was with her man, and how all she'd really been able to write was smiley songs about love... I'm super excited about this new album!

so i recently took a gander over at the Ani forum, and i read an interview where she mentioned that she was working on her next album. So it's probably just a matter of months!! Here are some of her newest, which will probably be on the album: (this one has FANTASTIC lyrics) I have to say, I'm always amazed at how easily this woman just pumps out music. An album a year, jeez. She's in a league with Tori, i'd say. Because she's so unbelievably full of music and things to say. Anywho... Im excited, and wanted to share this with you
