Saar, you beat me to it, I just spent the last 30 min typing the Lisa Hannigan thread!!!!!!!! Here's what I got anyway, I guess that between your post and my post, we'll hopefully get some people interested!!! Lisa Hannigan has the full package to be a star. First, her voice. In my honest opinion she’s got the most beautiful voice in the world, and I really like it cos she sings kinda soft, never tries to ‘over-do it’ ala Mariah Carey. Second, Lisa got the looks. She’s the most gorgeous looking woman. Ever. Pure bliss. Third, personality. Lisa is the sweetest thing, maybe even too nice for this crazy music-industry world. For years Lisa Hannigan was known as ‘the girl who sings with Damien Rice’, her duets were extraordinary, especially live, if you ever had the chance to see them live together, you know what I’m talking about. Songs like Volcano, 9 crimes, Cold water, I remember, some that they were doing live but are not on record like Then Go or The Professor, or even the songs in when she just did a tiny bit like those last lines in The Blower’s Daughter or Older Chests or Sleep don’t Weep or Woman like a man. My fav is probably I Remember, you can hear it here from a performance at Letterman: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB5tNGSpaggOr this live version of Cold Water at Jonathan Ross: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtiYYWNLBlAOr Volcano live at Abbey Road: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY4IBVolt2w&feature=relatedShe was not only Damien’s singing companion but her muse and inspiration and I like to believe that most of Damien’s songs are about her. To make a long story short, after a long and sometimes harsh personal & professional relationship with Damien, they split in early 2007. The circumstances were a bit weird. It all happened in Munich, they did soundcheck, normal, but then Lisa did not show up at the gig or any of the next ones. Rumours started like crazy and we were all fearing the worst. Then came the press release at Damien’s site saying more or less that Lisa had left the band after long discussion, that their relationship had run its creative course and that it was a common agreement and she was going solo. Something really broke in my heart when it was confirmed that she was leaving and to be honest part of me hasn’t fully recovered. The press release always sounded a bit fishy and this week we finally got Lisa’s side of the story in her first interview, in the Irish Times (http://www.irishtimes.com/theticket/articles/2008/0829/1219875275117.html), where basically she says that things were not working with Damien anymore, and that day in Munich he came into the room 10 minutes before the gig and told her he didn’t want her to sing with him anymore. Basically, she was fired… But in the end, Lisa admits it was positive cos that gave her the final push to decide to start a solo career. So finally on Sept 12… SEA SEW arrives, Lisa Hannigan’s looooooong awaited debut. Cos she’s not only the best singer in the world, she can also write songs!!! She debuted the songs in a little summer tour in Ireland and they’re all amazing. I haven’t heard the final ‘studio’ versions, but most of the songs we know them from live versions on youtube or her myspace… my fav ones are the first single Lille and Sea Song, which are really really good!!!! She played them both live on the radio this week and I just uploaded them to my 4shared folder, here: www.4shared.com/dir/9093203/cad271b/Lisa_radio_Ireland.htmlIn the next months, she’s gonna do a big tour in the US supporting James Mraz so if you’re in the US, just go ?

Ohhh and finally the other day I manage to meet Lisa in person!!!!! I've been dreaming about meeting Lisa since I first saw her live in concert with Damien. I still remember my first time seeing Lisa, it was in this tiny club called El Rey in LA, Nov 06, for the 9 Album Launch. I was completely mesmerized with Lisa, I think I spent the whole gig staring at her and this summer I was determined to meet her, and came up with a plan. I convinced my friend to go to the tiniest gig of her tour, in a place called Tullamore, mid of nowhere.... and it worked. First, the gig was amazing cos it was in this pub that seated maybe 50 people. Lisa was in top form, her voice sounded amazing in such a small venue, she even did some dance moves, we even got a wardrobe malfunction and after the gig I met her and she's the sweetest thing and so so so so much beautiful from a close distance, and she has this super sexy speaking voice!!!!! and we talked, signed everything, took pictures, the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!! still excited and it was like a month ago. and here's the pic!! Ain't we like the cutest couple ever

^ Oh Marti, you wrote an essay, dude! ;D Seriously, I am SO happy you met her, that is just all kinds of awesomeness! You two do indeed look like a cute couple! ;D She is such a pretty girl... and so talented. LOVE her. Hope she tours Europe some more, hell I'm willing to travel to Ireland. I think Damien kicking her out, is one of the best things which could have happened to her... creativily speaking. Btw. Vyvienne Long is working on a new album too, should be out soon as well!

i'm definitely going to pick up her album once it is out...her voice is just smooth and hypnotizing. i haven't listened to anything on her myspace so the album as a whole can be suprised. does anyone know if it'll be available from any US retailers? i might have to save a bit because ordering from her sight it'll cost more than a pretty penny. am thinking of going to see her open for jason mraz...have to decide whether i can handle all the tweens who will be there and acting all silly. though i do like mraz as well so we'll see

You should definetively go!!! Lisa said she's gonna have like 45 min to play when opening for this Mraz guy so that's good. and they will probably sell Lisa's album at the shows so it can be an alternative (cheaper) way to get the album!!!
Cos so far the release is Ireland-only... not even UK or Europe, but I guess they will release it overseas later in the year!!
Are they charging a lot for shipping to the US?

Yeh go see her, Sam... that's a way to get her album cheaper! PLUS you'll see her live!! I dunno how much they charge, I had to pay 4 or 5 euro's extra to ship it to Belgium!
