I checked to see if there was another thread dedicated to the X files.. and I didnt see anything. I've just finished watching all of season 7... and I have to say, I LOVED it!!! So many great episodes... All Things is probably one of the best I've seen. Absolutely beautiful. Im on the fence as to whether or not I should get the last two seasons... my favorite part of the show was the Mulder/Scully dynamic... so I just don't know. I almost feel like I have to, though... Any who... it's a great series that needs its own thread

Yay, you started the thread! I've been watching the complete series boxset that I bought at the beginning of the year and I'm now at the start of the 5th season. I'm really surprised how well it's holding up for me after all these years. There are some things that bug me now that didn't before, for example some of the voice-overs kinda come off as really pretentious and make me cringe. Like in the episode Redux, the entire episode is voice-overs! Scully working in the lab and explaining to us in a voice-over what she's doing. Mulder walking down long hallways and explaining to us in a voice-over what he's doing. Argh! Other that that, I'm really enjoying the marathon. I think we've talked about this before but I think you should watch the last seasons. Mulder is still in several episodes in season 8 and shows up again in the series finale. Overall, I don't think those seasons are nearly as bad as some people think. Have you guys seen the second movie? I know it didn't do too well at the box office and critics seemed to hate it but generally, I think fans liked it. I have the DVD but just haven't watched it yet! All Things is great. I love that they gave the actors the opportunity to write and direct their own episodes. William B Davis, who played the Smoking Man once said that the only way he could get a scene with Scully was if he wrote it himself. And then he did, his episode En Ami is all about him and Scully! ;D

Definitely my favourite TV-show! I'm just finishing the 8th season and it's so goood! Doggett is a perfect addition to the show. And YES I LOVED the second movie. I had nightmares about the head transplants and all but I'm ok now. And oh, the dialogue..

yeah, i feel obligated to get the last two seasons. So I will, soon...
Im so in love with Mulder.
Now that I've watched seasons 1-7 from beginning to end, I actually Love the show more than I did when it was on TV.
For a long while, I could only watch the non-alien-conspiracy episodes. Because that kind of thing never really interested me... but now I love it all!!
I watched the first movie when it came out a long while ago, and have yet to see the second. I have some catching up to do!!
I think my favorite episode, out of all the ones Ive seen, is "The Field Where I Died" I'm not really sure why... its just stuck with me. There are so many that I love love love, but that one just moves my soul. Same with "All Things"... there are some really moving episodes.
Another incredibly moving one for me is "The Post-Modern Prometheus" that one makes me cry and cry and cry. It's just soooo sweet.

I think I saw the first movie 3 times in the theater when it came out. Field where I Died is one of my favorites as well. As is Post-Modern Prometheus. I also love Momento Mori, Detour, Quagmire, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, The Unnatural, Unusual Suspects (a great episode despite the lack of Mulder and Scully), Humbug, Bad Blood (I love all the comedy ones), Never Again, Home, How the Ghosts Stole Christmas...There are so many amazing episodes! Im so in love with Mulder. Yum.

oh my! Id never seen those before!!!! I love them! this is my personal fav: I also love the comedy episodes. Arcadia, too... pretty darn funny. Im pretty sure David and Gillian have the best on screen chemistry of any duo on TV... it's funny to see Gillian laughing in the bloopers, cuz she plays such a straight character. When she's actually quite funny.

I still haven't watched that! The movie didn't do too well in the US but I think it did okay overseas so there has been talk about a third movie. It would be about the alien colonization that is supposed to happen, if I remember correctly, in November 2012 so they might make the premier coincide with that date. At least that's what I've heard. Libby (that's your name, right?) have you watched the last seasons already?

AND I bought the first movie, eagerly awaiting its arrival And as far as the second movie goes, I highly recommend it! I enjoyed it quite a lot. Especially watching it alone at night for the first time, really scary and exciting! Plus, its just great to see Mulder and Scully together

Plus, its just great to see Mulder and Scully together Heh, that's what I'm mainly interested in, I don't really care about the plot of the movie, I just want to see them as a couple!

so im on the last two episodes of season 8...
its certainly not my favorite. the baby arc is kind of annoying, just because I feel its so cliche... like, should have seen this coming after she was abducted in S2 and left barron.
Reyes upsets me most of the time, because I feel like she just doesnt fit. Though I like Doggett's character. His accent kind of drives me nuts once in a while. But I dont mind his character nearly as much as I thought I would, considering he was Mulder's replacement. And I especially like the fact that Scully was so closed off to him. It fit her character very well. I was worried their relationship would try to immitate hers and Mulder's, which is didnt. So Im quite happy with the writers.
The Billy Miles business feels like its totally taken from Terminator 2... which is funny, because I cant look at Doggett without thinking about T2.
Well... off to finish it up!!
