I couldn't find any topic for them here, so here it is.
They've just released a new album and I happen to think it's a great album!
This duo is two half-cherokee sisters (which connects them to Tori, in a way ) and this album is their fourth. The earlier have been a bit different each, last time in 2007 they had a beatboxer with them and did a bit of rap singing combained to operetic atmosphere etc and that was good too. The first two albums, I'm not so into them, yet.
Here, in Grey Oceans, the newest album, they combine electronica with Björk-esque raw singing from another world, and operetic elements with eastern influences and ragtime music with drum'n'bass sound, oh, what else... children's toys with ghostly singing and in addition there's some genuine cherokee music. Not to mention obsessively emotional piano-playing!!
Whoa.
The combination works for me. Bothe of the sisters, Bianca and Sierra sing. Bianca keeps Björk alive with her strange, strange accent (the vowels are ALMOST as strangely pronounced as Tori's sometimes... ) Sierra is a trained classical vocalist, and you can hear it in some songs, like Smokey Taboo, quite well that she is.
Here are some samples. If you don't want to know anything more about them, at least check out this gorgeous video for
Lemonade:
Okay, that video should be tagged with a "weirdness warning", but if you don't mind bearded girls and strange vocals, you should be okay. ;D
Here's the wonderful, orientalish Smokey Taboo:
Here's Gallows, live. Yeah, Sierra plays the Harp, too.
But not three without the fourth: From the 2007's The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn, the official video for
Rainbowarriors. Don't they make quite lovely boys, these girls?
