My latest discovery is from last late December, found on the free cd-sampler with Plato Mania magazine. It was Katie Melua ("Closest Thing To Crazy"). I bought her album with free DVD a week later. Even my girlfriend likes the music (our musical tastes are very opposite of eachother).

Dirty Three are really great. Warren Ellis, the violin player, also plays with Nick Cave and the Badseeds. He's really good. I saw them play in Detroit, maybe five years ago.

Have i mentioned Devendra Banhart in this thread yet? I can't be bothered to look back through it all. I finally completed my Banhart album/EP collection yesterday as i got his back catalogue as birthday gifts. He's an acquired taste (everything is recorded on a beaten up old tape recorder, and performed completely live - so not for people who like their music slickly produced, or even produced at all come to think of it ), but everyone should give him a try... You need to try a couple of songs before passing judgement though, because he's really not an artist you can judge from one song. Maybe try "Wake Up Little Sparrow", "Little Yellow Spider", and definitely "Sister". The first two songs will get into your head like the catchiest nursery rhymes you've ever heard... ;D

Last Sunday while painting the chimney (...) the live show Franz Ferdinand did last year at the Dutch Pinkpop festival was on Dutch television, and damn! did that sounded great! Last summer when they became 'big' in our country I listened to a song of their's but didn't liked it at all. Now it was their second chance I guess. I wonder if they will release a special Pinkpop Edition of the album, with last years show as a bonus cd...
