i'm getting ready to start the time travelers wife...has anyone read it? opinions? I haven't read it, but I've heard that it's really good! It's one of those many newish books I've been meaning to read... Right now I'm reading my first Kurt Vonnegut book (wow, it's about time), Slaughterhouse-Five. ~Lisa

^^That's supposed to be a really good book; I've been meaning to read it. But so many books, so little time. I just finished reading Flowers For Algernon, and of course I cried at the end. ~Lisa

I'm reading Richistan which is about how the nouveau riche live in America, and I'm also reading the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by Anne Rice writing as A.N. Rocquelaire (sp?). I'm in the first book right now and I really can't say I'm wild about it. I'm not a prude at all (it's erotica), but it's a bit much for me. Not necessarily the sexual elements but the sadism/punishment aspect is kinda ridiculous. I'm feeling a bit punished myself, LOL.

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Dìaz At first I was intrigued by the cover... then I discovered it won the Pulitzer 2008 so it was a 'must' reading... well... I found it wondrous e (fable)fabulous, chilling, written in a 'fulminating' style and in some point I couldn't understand if the writers exaggerated with joint (and fantasy comics) or if I was too much into the story 'cause I was sure about the existence of the singing mongoose... It hurts me... because some passages cut me to the quick... but definitely it was worth reading. Just a last thing: ZAFA!!! ;D

I just finished "The House of Mirth" by Edith Wharton.
It took me a while to get into it but eventually I couldn't put it down. Great classic literature describing the life and social constraints of the Upper Class (esp women) in New York at the end of the 19th century.

I recently read Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper, which was ok, but because everyone who recommended it told me about a devastating surprise ending, I already had the ending predicted before I even read the book. Now I'm reading Dave Eggers' A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, and I really like it so far. ~Lisa

Me no read books... only if I really have to.. so last book I read was Tristram Shandy... It's a really difficult book, but on the other hand... they made a movie out of it (well actually a documentary type film about making the movie).. it's fab! It's with Gillian Anderson and Steve Coogan nl.youtube.com/watch?v=wXzuUJZuqUI
