Suburban Mayhem. A train-wreck of a lead character: www.imdb.com/title/tt0450506/And the soundtrack is amazing. Adalita from Magic Dirt does a Patti Smith-esque cover called "Double Dare". It's a fucking riot.

I really want to see Borat, i'm a big Sasha Baron Cohen fan. I've seen a few clips from the movie and it looks like it's up to his usual standards (i wasn't sure how it would work as whole movie). I can't resist going through one of the scenes they've been advertising the movie with... --------- [Borat, sat at a posh dinner table with a middle-aged woman to each side of him, and several other people around the table.] Borat talking to the guy across the table: "This woman [points to the woman to his left]. She is very hot. She your wife?" Guy: "Oh no! [laughs] She's my wife." [Points at the woman sat to Borat's right.] Borat: "These women. Very sexy! In Kazakhstan they would be very popular..." [Man and women start to laugh.] Borat: "Not such much..." [Nods towards man's wife] Man: --------- I'm not so sure i'll get to see it at the cinema tho. May have to wait for a DVD release. And 'The Prestige' isn't released here until after Sarah goes home damn'it. 'Children of Men' is getting rave reviews and on at the moment, so maybe we'll get to see that so long as they don't cut the showings down by next week.

All the reviews of 'Children of Men' I saw were a bit dodgy...maybe I'll go see it after all...
Looking forward to 'The Prestige' too.

Weird. Heard some raves about 'Children of Men' myself. So much so that i really wanted to go check it out when Sarah was over (sounded like something she'd really enjoy too), but circumstances conspired against it alas. Of course, by "circumstances" i mean numb legs. From walking people! For crying out loud. Do you think everything i say is a double entendre? :sus:

A year ago, late 2005, I saw this incredibly funny animated trailer of dancing penguins called 'Happy Feet'. Now, at last, it hits the big screen in the US and soon in Europe I asume, and I really want to see this movie!
In its opening weekend it has beaten the new 007 movie (which I really don't want to see). If you want to feel happy and feel like dancing: to go see Happy Feet!

i'll be seeing 'Walk The Line' on monday - won free tix i'm really excited about 'Memoirs of a Geisha'! read the book a few years ago, loved it. i can't wait to see the result... it'll be showing at a film festival here in 2 weeks (got tix) and 'Brokeback Moutain' as well (will definitely go) 'Memoirs of a Geisha' can you believe that my husband liked the movie? I mean nothing blew up in it and he still liked it. I asked him why and he said he just likes a well told story. I think more should have been made over it. The cinematography was stunning! I want to get the DVD!

***boosts thread***
yeah anyone seen Prestige? i'm movie-ing on friday and so far its a toss up between the prestige and marie antoinette.....
well, i guess we're considering BORAT too.. ()Reason for Editing: silly ginger I loved both, but be warned about Marie Antoinette, if you like to have a lost feeling, where you're just in the moment, it's very rich in that way, but if you don't know the story behind the movie, you won't leave knowing much more. It only focused on what it must have felt like to be her and not what was going on in the real world...I read that a lot of why the real Marie Antoinette was so disliked was that a lot of lies were spread around about her by the the court because she actually tried to cut cost and they didn't like losing their place in royalty... It helped me to know that Borat is Jewish and so I guess he can poke fun at his own race...did you know he is actually speaking Hebrew and not Kazakhstan ...my husband walks around saying, "very nice...how much" and it sounds just like him, but he's starting to drive me crazy

Elephant! I was so chocked when I saw the film for the first time. That has been a while, I've seen it now in almost all languages (French-dub included)
