I agree with fog here. I have several favorites- Bag of Bones and Lisey's Story are really good mostly because of character development. Bag of Bones was a return to ghost stories for him. I also love the Shining.
Last year I went to Estes Park, Colorado and got to stay a night at the Stanley Hotel. This is where King got the idea for the book and stayed while he was writing a good portion of it. They also filmed the ABC Miniseries there. It was a fantastic creepy night!

I bought the series novel of The Green Mile and started reading them, but I thought it was boring. But I guess a lot of SK books just are! Too much nonsense. I started to read The Dark Tower from the library when I was a young teenager, but after 10-15 pages I brought back the book... King's drastically overated. I think he just releases anything regardless of whether it's good or not. I'd say 75 percent of his stuff is crap. I've always thought writers like H.P Lovecraft, Clive Barker, and Peter Straub are 300 times better sometimes. He does have some really, really good stuff out there I like. The Dark Tower series being my favorite..and...it's not horror. I also loved Danse Macabre, which is his non-fictional book about horror as a genre. It's very outdated, but a very, very enjoyable read. I'd like to say give Dark Tower another try, but I dunno. I just FINALLY finished Book 7 about four months ago, and it was a bit of a let down. Book 1 is basically a intro. 2 is very good. 3's probably my favorite. 4 is basically back story, and pointless, but it's a very good romance. 5 is filler. 6 I didn't care for. And 7..eh. It kinda went downhill after 3 for me..but if you look at when they were released, I believe he released 5-7 in something like 2 years, when there were 8 years between 1 and 2, and 3, etc. I wonder if he realized..oh shit, I'm getting old, I need to finish this like, now (this was right around the same time he was involved in that near fatal vehicle accident... ) The mini-series is pretty cool if you can find a way to see it. They only ever put the DVD out in the US, and it is currently out of print. Uh. It was released on VHS also. I have it..or were you talking about geographically it was released in the UNITED STATES, and not say Europe, etc? And yeah, it's a tremendous watch..I loved it. I've watched it from beginning to end like 3-4 times..Sci-Fi will run the whole thing which lasts like 8 hours w/ commericals, and I'll sit there and watch it. Finally, I think that overall the best fit was the woman who played Nadine (can't remember her name, she was on that crappy sitcom "Just Shoot Me"). Laura San Giacomo!
