I saw 'V for Vendetta' at the weekend which I thought was OK but a bit OTT in places.
I've just been watching 'Rabbit-Proof Fence', which was very good.

Michael Moore's documentaries are clearly coming from a certain perspective - I don't believe anyone sane would ever suggest they were 'balanced'.
This is not to suggest they are invalid - *everything* is biased to some extent.
I see no 'duty' for documentary makers to be balanced - if you want a different point of view, you can watch a different film.

The thing that's always bothered me about Harry Potter is that all the ideas seemed to have been stolen - from Tolkein, Greek Myths etc.
Never been too bothered myself but I'll probably be taking my mother to see the latest soon.

I went to see The Island yesterday...pretty poor. The story and acting are great, and it starts quite well as a dark sci-fi thriller, and then suddenly a third of the way through everything starts blowing up ??? it's a total car crash in every way. I was just staring at the screen thinking WTF is going on ? It's almost like they changed directors or something. On to the important bit however...Scarlet Johansson looks great in it. She's hotter than a very hot thing. Which is a bit weird cuz I first saw her in Ghost World where I think she's supposed to be a bit geeky. P.S. Saw 'Crash' last week (no, not the other 'Crash'), which was pretty good.

It's worth pointing out it's No. 32 on the IMDB's most popular film list. Definetly a word-of-mouth thing. It didn't get much publicity or stuff in the UK when it came out at the cinema. I rented it on DVD almost at random cuz it had had some good reviews.
Kate Winslet plays her part really well. Kirsten Dunst is good too. Staggeringly imaginative and wonderfully scripted and plotted. And I like the ending too - I find it kind of hopeful, in an odd way.
