^ Ya know, I feel exactly the same. I bought their 'Dummy' album, 'cos I loved "Sour Times" but that's the only song I liked on that album, I tried liking the others tho, but it never clicked for me neither. Her voice bothers me till no end. I gave that album away. lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one, sometimes it feels like I'm the only one not liking Portishead. ;D But that's music, for each of us there's something! Reason for Editing: can't tyyyyyyyyype lkjqsdmfiuqsdpofijqmsdoij.

I'm in love with the new album. I've been listening to it all night yesterday.
To me, it's Beth's voice, the rhythms and the dark vibe that really makes me like Portishead. I must be in the mood to listen to them, though.

Absolutely amazing album. It has such a dark and sparse sound, with this cozy streak of warmth running through it. mmmmm
I've never been wowed by a Portishead album before, but I becoming quite absorbed in this splendid disc!

I bought the new Portishead cd too. I'ts quite different from their other material and yet the same old Portishead My faves from Third are We Carry On(OMG), Machine Gun (brilliant!) and Threads. The Rip is quite beautifull yes. The ones I don't like that much are Silence and Small.. but they're not bad either.

Can someone please help me to stop listening to this album? I'm addicted. I've listened to half of Orbital II and a bit of Silver Mt. Zion in the last few days (along with the obligatory you know who) otherwise it's been all Portishead all the time. Wow, is all I can say. Machine Gun is the best industrial track I've heard in years...and it is by Portishead!? This is definitely my album of the year so far.
