I've kind of picked up on a slight dislike for Fiona Apple on this forum of late. And I'm rather upset by that. I actually got into Fiona before Tori (if it weren't for Fiona I never would have discovered Tori) and I have to say that even though Tori's amazing live performances and sheer VOLUME of music have kind of taken over Fiona in my brain, I will always have a special place for her in my heart! So stop the hate! www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EzEC61AHi0I love this interview (after the song she plays). She's just so funny and real. A lot of people judge Fiona because of the way she was in her early career (can anyone say Y Kant Tori Read?). But I think she has really grown as an artist. And I love her. That is all

I'm definitely a fan. I've always felt badly that she has become one of the worst victims of the "anyone can be a star" period that happened in the mid 90s. These days, an artist like Fiona would quietly enjoy her devoted following on a little independent label. But in 1996 just about anything could be a massive hit on modern rock radio, which could be cool but also created some weird situations once the record pressing money machine got their hooks in. I can't help but think that the A&R men's search for "the next Criminal" created a bitter, confused young woman. There was a complete misunderstanding as to how to promote the brilliant, subversive follow up (When the Pawn...) and the lost masterpiece (original version of "Extraordinary Machine") was left on the cutting room floor.

I love her and listen to her often... probably the most after Tori. She has a deep unique lovely voice and I love her on piano. I just wish she would TURN IT UP on her albums and bring that piano to the front with her voice. Sometimes it's so hidden! Love her live... so raw.

got all her albums, love her. although i'm a bit reserve about her piano work (T is far superior on that, hands down), her lyrics always amaze me, especially on Tidal and WTP.

I like Fiona ...sometimes I have Tidal and When The Pawn and a copy of the unreleased version of EM (original) EM and WTP are pretty good and I like listening to them now and then Tidal rather makes me *leaves thread now as she feels more un-appreciating thoughts coming*

Haha. Well now I feel bad for kicking people out of this thread! I suppose you can have your own opinions... I'll allow that.

Never is a Promise is on my top 20 fave song list (although Tori claims about 15 spots to Fiona's one).
