I've got the last two albums of Within Temptation and the first one of Evanescence. They are nice, although I am not a gothic rock lover. However, yesterday I went to my sisters' fashion show and there were a lot of girls who showed gothic clothes, so there were a lot og gothic rock songs. Most of them I really liked, but unfortunately, I do not know the artists

I`m into Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Stratovarious, Nightwish and such.... By the way, Nightwish is not from Norway, they are Finnish.

You're right about that. But it's a shame they kicked Tarja out of Nightwish last October.
4 weeks ago I went to see Epica in Rotterdam and it was better than both Nightwish-gigs I saw. Maybe because as a Dutch band they are closer to the fans than Nightwish. Epica is still a very Dutch-based band and don't exist as long as Nightwish does.

Oh' fuck, the mess when Tarja was kicked out. She cried all over the Finnish media how she was just brutally ditched, although she became this Diva-Bitch, who was part of the band only by name.
I don't even like the band, so you can imagine how this issue has been sorted here. There still are some topics about the brake up. She just can't let it be and save some of her pride.

I consider myself 'goth-friendly' ;D The Cure are one of my fave bands. Although they are a bit mad and eclectic, if 'Pornography' and 'Disintegration' don't count as goth, I don't know what does! The bands mentioned (Within Temptation etc.) are virtually unheard of in Britain. Oddly enough since they've been mentioned occasionally on this board, I've downloaded some of their stuff, but am yet to be convinced. I seem to remember quite liking The Gathering. And I do think Evanescence are a bit goth. Even if the single sounded like Linkin Park.

I liked Lacuna Coil in the beginning (debut-mini album and the full-length debut album), but after that it bored me. It misses the power, the epic/powermetal sound. It has no grunts as I recall right now. I just LOVE this so-called "beaty and the beast" voices in goth-metal. The female soprano and/or angelic voice vs. the male grunts! YAY

There is this German band that I just love but I don't know if they count as Gothic . I think they are more industrial music. Wolfsheim is their name.

I have some tracks of Wolfsheim on some compilation cd's. They make another kind of Goth then Nightwish. But HIM is again another kind of Goth. Goth-rock is really different then Goth-metal (Nightwish, Within Temptation, After Forever, Evanesence.... even Lacuna Coil). Last weekend I watched the video "Ot Of The Real World" from a band called Stream Of Passion on the tv. I was sold immediately! It's a mix of the latest After Forever, with Evanesence and Epica. Looking at internet, it seems to be the new project/band of rock/metalopera-guru Arjen Anthony "Ayreon" Lucassen! YAY!! The bandmembers themselves are not from Holland like he is, but they are from all over the world. You can watch and download the videoclips from "Passion" and "Out Of The Real World" straight from www.streamofpassion.com

I own all Wolfsheim Cd's. They just got me hooked on the very first track I listened from them. I love Spectators and their last Casting shadows.
