I paid 5 pounds since after exchange rates, that is what a digital download normally costs in the US (10 bucks). IMHO, the record is a HUGE improvement over Hail to the Thief, which was mostly dismal. To my ears, its not even as good as Amnesiac though. I enjoyed the record, but I cannot put it among my favorites this year. I'm a bit perplexed by all these outrageously high ratings it is getting online. I wonder if people are getting wrapped up in the unique sales scheme and not the music itself.

I guess diff radiohead fans, diff taste...you mention Amnesiac, IMO it's their worst album by far, I even prefer Pablo Honey to Amnesiac. Diff people, diff opinions... I thought Hailf to the Thief was ok, some great tracks (Where I End and You Begin, 2+2=5,Wolf at the Door) mixed with some of the worst things they've ever done... I think this new one is amazing, songs like Jigsaw Puzzle or Weird fish are mind-blowing, and for me, it's nothing to do with the selling scheme or anything...
and Franklin, I understand fans that they don't like their after Ok Computer material, but seriously, you would have prefered them to not evolve and keep releasing the same album again and again??? I think every band has the right to experiment and evolve, they lost fans in the process, fine, but at least they evolve. Would you really have liked them to do a Colplay and release the same fookin album 3 times in a row, only worst each time and X&Y being the biggest crap ever... or I don't know... Keane, album 2 is same as album 1 but worst...
Juanita, listen more!!!!!!!!!!! maybe needs time...

I have listened to it at least 10 times since I downloaded it. I don't find myself wanting to listen to it again, which is why I don't think it's a great album.

I like it. But then again, I know with Radiohead things take time. I didn't like Kid A much when it came out or Amnesiac, but they grew with time. I loved Hail to the Thief and on this record there's a bunch of songs that I just love and can't wait to listen to live!!!

I agree it takes time with Radiohead. Took me like 5 years to really like Kid A, oops I already knew 90% of the songs in the album, most of them were played in the 06 tour, loved them then, but the studio versions are 234679 times better.

Yeah, with a group that does so many different things like Radiohead does, everyone is bound to hear things a bit differently. For me it fits in like this:
1) The Bends 2) OK Computer 3) Kid A 4) Amnesiac 5) In Rainbows 6) Pablo Honey 7) Hail to the Thief
I really enjoy the record, but with so many amazing releases out there, I can't put it among my favs of '07. 2007 has been one of the best years for new music in recent memory, in my humble opinion.
