...and all her awesomeness. Yes, she wore a swan dress. And from time to time, she tends to kick some reporters/paps ass, but the music man. The music is just absolutely wonderful. I can jump up and down one minute, and cry the next. Such evocative, luscious sounding music. I love it. Her live shows have been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. So much energy. So much fun. I'm still mad at myself for not appreciating her music at a younger age. She was always there. I knew of her, but didn't really listen. All up til that day when this one Björk mix cd entered my life at the ripe ol age of 19... ;D So tell me what you think. Why you like her, why you don't. I'm curious to know your thoughts...

Björk was my first real 'alternative artist' that I became a fan of. I remember seeing/hearing 'Play Dead' for the first time on MTV as a little boy. At first I was like: what the fook? Then moments later, when the song was over, I remember me desperately wanting to hear the song again. And so I waited for hours to until the video came again. Since then, I was hooked. I'm not a big fan of 'Debut' (anymore), but the rest of her albums all have something really special. 'Post', 'Homogenic' and 'Vespertine' are my favorites. God, I cannot even explain why I adore her music so much. It's weird sometimes, since she made some stuff that I really disliked in the beginning, and then later I loved it. And not "because it's Björk". I'm very critical in that way. But sometimes I really need time to 'click' with her music. But when I do, I cream in my pants because her music is so delicious. Some of my favorite songs that immediately come to mind: 'Generous Palmstroke', 'Joga', 'All Is Full Of Love', 'So Broken', 'Pagan Poetry', 'Hyper Ballad', 'Possibly Maybe', 'Hunter', 'Unravel', 'All Neon Like', 'Cocoon', 'Hidden Place', 'Desired Constellation', 'Oceania', 'Army Of Me', 'Headphones', 'Scatterheart', 'Storm' and 'The Dull Flame Of Desire'. Nothing but love for her. And she may kick the paps every single day. They're horrible people anyway.

Bjork is awesome and I am seeing her live for the first time in 10 days. Bjork and I have a close, but distant relationship. I am listening to Post at the mo, and it is bringing back so many good memories! usually I get peeved off when a band or an artist 'experiments' with beats and sounds because they think that it is easy and can integrate the change, but just generally do a half-assed job of it (i.e. Radiohead), but Bjork pulls it off with aplomb. She always has me interested in what she is doing... I mean Medulla- how awesome is that. I love her because she pushes the envelope, none of her albums are the same, they have their own stories, their own sounds, their own lives. That's how albums should be. Not "OK - we've found a formula that works well and sells well - lets just do this over and over!" but "Lets experiment, lets defamiliarize ourselves from the last album and create something completely different." Bjork's sense of experimentalism and her constant changing and refutation of complacency in her sound makes her one of my most luffed musical artists of the last 20 years. There will never be another Bjork, she kicks my ass.
