Last week I rediscovered Heather Nova's music (I had 6 cd's of her, added 2 more last week). I don't really know why I stopped following her.
Just like other artists I listened to in the 90's like: * Paula Cole (This Fire is a fantastic album from 1996 I believe) * Sophie B Hawkins (3rd album Timbre was a little disappointment and she didn't do much in music past 10 years) * Sarah McLachlan (I have Surfacing en Fumbling, but found out her discography is growing every year! And "Afterglow" is her 2003 album!) * Radiohead (from debut to OK Computer Radiohead was great, but to me they ruined themselves since Kid A.) * The Smashing Pumpkins * R.E.M. (esp. the old albums and Automatic For The People)

You mean in the early 90s???
apart from T, I was first into all the grunge thing, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains... then Britpop for me: Blur, Oasis, Suede, Manics, Radiohead, Pulp, Cranberries (not sure if all are britpop...)

I'm listening to pretty much the same stuff, I'm listening now... (except for the newer artists of course...) Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Ani Difranco, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Sisters of Mercy, New Model Army, Therapy?, The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, The Cranberries, TOOL, The Beatles, Tom Waits, Aerosmith (old days), The Cure,... I still listen to all these artists on regular basis.

not much... I mean, I was 13-8 years back then and I wasn't really an early bloomer music-wise anyway... my first CD in the middle 90s was this:

Lol I was into Eternal big style. I listened to loads of 80s stuff thanks to my mum, so a lot of Kate Bush, Def Leopard etc. And all that pop crap like Spice Girls, SClub, etc, that was more of a front so I'd fit in better with my mates!
Oh, can't forget the Brit Pop either, our school was very anti Oasis and very pro Blur for the reason that Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon went to our school!!

looking back, i had crappy tastes until the age of 16 - been going through different phases, such as "boys band" (Take Take, even saw them live), 80's (Duran Duran, The Cure), Britpop (Suede, Blur, Oasis) and pretty much all that was showing on music channels at the time. wasn't buying a lot of cd's neither, the first one i bought was Duran Duran's Notorious in 93 i think. i'm SO glad MTV UK was around during my entire teens though, there are so many artists i discovered through it, but didn't really get into until a few years later (like Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Tori, Bjork, Rammstein, etc).

How could I forget bands like My Dying Bride, Rammstein and Cradle Of Filth who I discovered around 1996. Three heavy bands but so different. I still buy every new album of MDB nowadays btw.
And when I was at highschool, we were very into R.E.M.

Oh! Fun thing to think about Franklin...
Let's see, 15 years ago I would be discovering the Beatles. Until I was about 13 I rejected the Beatles as "old" and never gave them a chance. I was listening to all the 90s alt rock (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc.) who ironically owed so much to the Fab4. Around then I made a huge change and became a full fledged Beatlemaniac. That launched me into my nothing but classic rock phase that probably lasted until about age 17 when I bought the Great Expectations Soundtrack and became interested in modern music again. Actually, about this time 10 years ago I was out washing my car when Y100 would debut the new Tori Amos single "Spark" and the rest as they say is history...
