I just stumbled across this... They did a remake for John Carpenters 'The Fog' movie. I normally hate remakes, but I watched the trailer anyways. And it doesn't look bad at all. Tho, I just know it won't ever match the original. Go here for the trailer: www.escapethefog.com/I noticed that there's an actress playing in this movie from 'Lost'. Think her name is 'Maggie Grace'. She plays Shannon in 'Lost'.

Yeah, it's the disease of the current society... let's remake everything. Music, movies, ect... not many movies / artists come up with something totally new.
Even fashion. Nowadays it's a mix of everything which has ever been a fashion...

I never seen the original, but this recent remake hype must stop! They film these movies within a week or 2, editing and some film music et voilá: a new teen/horror movie It's the same with dvd-movies: they release older movies again and again and every time with some extra's that wasn't on the previous release and call it "the ultimate collection you have to own". My nose! For movies you dídn't already have, it's a good opportunity to buy it, but when you already have the movie, you better don't. Like Titanic. The movie is available on dvd for ages, and now they make a double disc release out of it with 4 audio commentories (like we ever will watch Titanic all those 4 times with audio commentary!), some behind the scenes and the video from Celine D. And what will the 4-disc edition be like? And don't forget the Alien movies (5 disc Legacy box and recently the newer 9 disc special edition with extra and longer scenes :S) and Batman movies (after the separate movies and the 4 dvd box, they soon will release enhanced special edition 2-disc versions from each movie, incl. the one from Batman Begins). Recycling and recycling..... And what about those so-called "steel book" editions. Last year there was a 2-disc release from the vampire movie Underworld. Disc 1 was the Theatric version incl. some bonus material. Disc 2 was the longer and more erotic Director's Cut and some extra's. Last month they released the original fold out release as a so-called "new" steelbook edition. There is nothing new about it, just the package!!! There are many, many other examples of those re-release things nowadays. (Did I mention the 3-disc edition of Gladiator? Show your old 2-disc version, or the coupon inside of it, and you get €5 discount. Well, for an additional €5 I want to extrange my 2-disc for this 3-disc, but that's it). Aaaaaah, I'm getting old

the video from Celine D. And what will the 4-disc edition be like? I think you answered your own question with regards to Titanic... ;D But no, you're right, it's gone crazy. I'm so sick of buying dvd's only for a director's cut version or special edition to be announced a few days later. I even tried leaving a gap between when the dvd i want comes out and when i buy it, but it still happens regularly. Case in point: The Chronicles of Riddick. Was tempted to pick this up when it got it's dvd release cos i'd missed getting to see it at the cinema, but decided i'd wait just to be sure there wouldn't be a 2-disc special edition released a bit later. After several months there was no news about any new version, i had the option of picking it up for only £8.99, even went as far as to leave it a few days so i could check online that there was no new release planned, bought it and... Coming soon: The Chronicles of Riddick Director's Cut, including an extra 15 mins of previously unseen footage, and an 2nd disc with new extras. It's just something you can't keep on top of anymore. The only certainty is that there will be another version released after you buy a copy. When it comes to new films now i hardly ever buy the first release. I've been wanting to see Sin City since it was at the cinema, so was really looking forward to the getting it on dvd - but as soon as i saw there were no extras the alarm in my head went off. I eventually read the review of the dvd in a mag, and right at the end it says people may want to wait because there are rumors of a special edition going round. And in the very last issue of the same mag, there it is in the news section - not only is there to be a director's cut version of the film, but there's also to be a special edition with more extras than i have energy to type! Glad i waited, but no doubt there will be another version after those. You could say just rent the movies rather than risk buying them, but the rental versions often don't have surround sound and miss out on lots of extras. If you want the full movie experience you have to buy the retail version. Then there's the fact that soon we'll have Blue Ray discs and HD-DVD discs, both with their own versions of every film but with much higher picture quality and even more room for extras... I look into my future and see a great void where their should be money.

Yeah - nobody bother to go see the FOG - it is indeed ver foggy - including plotline and a point. I have a special place in my heart for Tom Welling for Smallville and Maggie Grace for Lost, but they suck so bad in this movie -it was not scary at all but FUNNY. Also Selma Blair is in it.
WE wentto the midnight madness showing of it (was only $3 on Thursday Night) and the audience physically laughed for most of the movie.
A couple good scenes to watch for though for a frighteningly good laugh : when the boy is running from the huge cloud of fog; when the aunt/gramma lady (who is actually more creepier than the ......FOG duh duh duh!) anyways, when she is washing the dishes and finds something under the plates.....
