reviving the splitting-nails-toppic: Do you think nail-repair-polish can cause nail splitting?thing is: since 2 or 3 weeks my nails are getting worse and worse....I never had super strong nails, but they used to be at least ok-ish, they broke when I had let them get too long, but otherwise I had no major problems with them. but now they are in really bad condition, especially the nails on the index fingers - I can't even cut them so short that the "splitted part" is cut off - the splitting doesn't seem to grow out, but rather to grow in even further and I think the whole thing started with this new nail polish. It's a transparent one and it is actually supposed to repair brittle nails....I bought it 'cause I needed a new transparent nail polish and also because one of my (at this time pretty long) nails looked a little bit break-y - so I thought with this nail polish I could keep my long nails a little bit longer - but no, exactly the opposite happened I really don't know what else it could be: there were no major changes in my life, I don't have more stress (not more than usual anyway) and I eat pretty much the same I used to...so my only explanation is the new nail polish... has anyone made similar experiences?

Neil Gaimans - American Gods (you can find the e-book •here• Whut?!?! Did they put up the whole book? for free?!?! I'm generally not a fan of e-books (too uncomfortable ) but I might give this a try! I haven't read anything by Gaiman so far, well except the book he did together with Pratchett, but I always wanted to, so I think I'll start with this one. thanks for the link!

I'm adding The Color PurpleI bawled my eyes out this weekend. Such a gripping and powerful film. I've seen it countless times and it still gets to the very core of me. oh yeah! so sad this is also one of the very few films where I like Whoopi

I like her. I normally really do enjoy listening to her, but if I'm in the wrong mood or listen to her too much, her voice (and those strange quirky sounds she sometimes does in songs) start to annoy me pretty quickly. But in general i think she's really good. I have Soviet Kitsch, and especially the song "Chemo Limo" is so amazing and so sad Another song of her that I love is "Pavlov's Daughter" About this whole comparison-thingie: I can understand that she gets annoyed by it, but on the other hand I don't think the comparison is that far-fetched. She's of course not a younger version of T, but there are some similarities... And to be honest: if I told someone - who hadn't heard her yet - about her, I'd rather describe her as being similar to Tori Amos, than to Nirvana/The Beatles/Bob Dylan.

You're welcome! if you want to use thumbnails because the original pic is too big there is also another option that is probably a bit easier: if you use imageshack for hosting the picture you could just take the special thumbnail link that they offer: (other pic-hosting sites probably have a similar option) it would look like this then:
