Jill had Tegan and Sara The Con twice...it is a good album, so I guess deserves 2 mentions. We are going to see them in Dec.
albums of this year...jeebus, I dont really like a lot of bands at all...I expect No World for Tomorrow by Coheed and Cambria will be excellent (thats out 23 oct).

Favourites... Tori Tool The Mars Volta At the Drive In Coheed and Cambria (my favourite band, hands down). AFI Rob/White Zombie
(but then if you see my post of top10 albums, a lot of my fav albums are not by these bands).
sometimes like ( meaning very much mood music!). PJ Harvey Neko Case
Overall, I can bear to listen to metal, even metal I dont like, but I cannot listen to punk, pop, rock, etc etc etc that I dont like. And I like seeing hardcore bands...dont listen to much hardcore, but the local hardcore bands are just so full of energy.

While I have your attention I wanted to say how cool it is that you listen to The Mars Volta, I didn't know they had female fans! I agree that Amputechture is my favorite. It has a focus beyond that of the other two, and I think that getting away from those Rush style concept albums has done them a lot of good. . The Mars Volta are in my opinion one of the best bands in the world at the moment. I love their style, ideas, concepts, etc... I cant really describe what it is about this band that I really do love so much, I think the lyrics have so much in them, you can explore for hours the ideas and still have no real clue.

Liss, great picks!
I used to be such a huge Marilyn fan. My fave album of theirs will always be Antichrist Superstar, I dont listen to them much anymore though.
And great to see Nikka Costa...
and Neko Case, I sooo have to buy her albums, it can be difficult to get some albums here, they are often only in certain music stores that I dont shop at.
razfnug7, Gold Dust Woman is such a great song!
And Jill, you explained it well. i will never stop liking the Downward Spiral.

Jill, you have great taste in music.
Can I ask though, The Fragile is on your list, what about it makes it in your top 10?? I could never get into this album, and neither could my friends who were also big NIN fans. I dont think its a bad album or anything I am just curious what about it you like?

I have done a fair lot of cleaning last few months and always go over my cds.
I always think about my favourite albums, and some of my favourite albums are one offs, the only album I own by that band.
So what is everyones favourite albums, and are they all by artists you adore, or like me are some just one offs??
MY TOP 10...
Amputechture by The Mars Volta. I love the Mars Volta as a band and I also love concept albums, but their latest album is the least conceptual and my favourite).
Album of the Year by Faith No More. This is a one off. I Just love this album, I have King for a Day... on a recorded tape but I dont like it as much as this album, not even close to. My favourite song is Stripsearch.
Peloton by The Delgados. A one off. I love this album, but other Delgados stuff just doesnt interest me. Whiteout by Bosshog. I love this album, so funky, but their other stuff not as much (tho ski bunny is fun).
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 by Coheed and Cambria. This is my favourite band, bring on the sci-fi and comics.
Aenima by Tool. Need I say more, this album kills. Tool are one of my favourite bands, 10000 days is close behind Aenima for me.
Boys For Pele by Tori Amos...I doubt I need to say anything else about this one...
2 by Led Zepplin. All killer, older albums, short albums, yep! I have never heard this album on cd, I only have the old vinyl.
Astro Creep 2000 by White Zombie. Horror metal, I really enjoy white zombie and rob zombie.
Relationship of Command by At the Drive-In. I was so sad I never saw them live. I am so glad this was their last album, if they had have gone shit after getting popular I would have cried.

Overcranked...brisbane festival of hardcore/metal...mainly brisbane bands
Coheed and Cambria. this was my fave show, by my fave band!
AFI, the concert was alright...
Rise Against, again just alright.
I really dislike loud music, so I dont go to many shows, and when I do go I have my ear plugs, the thing about earplugs though, is that they make the music sound wayyyyy better.

I dont mind APC...I dont think it is possible to compare them to Tool, they are a totally different entity.
I quite enjoy Mer De Noms, but I find 13th Step a bit crap and annoying, though I like some of the tracks. Have you heard the demo for, crap what is it called...well its a demo Billy Howerdel on vocals...I think he should have done vocals himself really.
I got to see them on the back of Mer... was an alright show, really cheap too!

Well I have much strange love for Claudio Sanchez' voice and lyrics. Coheed and Cambria are my favourite band.
But they arent for everyone at all, I am just a giant damn nerd who likes sci fi concept rock and comic book lyrics (after all I am comic writer trapped in the body of someone who cant draw all that well most of the time).

Yeah... November I believe. I wont be going I dont think. Costs too much, and I am not so into the dilly dalying live.
I am a big Mars Volta fan, also loved At the Drive In. I tend to like dorky music with stories and such.
