The Video to "Savin Me," By Nickelback is nothing short of brilliant, in the way that was done. the Video to "Savin Me." It was really neat how it begins by having a man run up and pushing this guy out of the way of a speeding car, thus saving his life. All of a sudden the guy - whose life was just saved - starts seeing all of these numbers - counting down in Orange - above other people's heads.
He, at first, can't figure out what it is or why he is seeing it. (He also looks in a Store Window and notices he does not see any numbers being counted down above his head)
Then, as the Video moves along, he see's an old woman being carried out on a stretcher to an ambulance. As he approaches her, he notices she has a 10-Second Countdown in Orange above her head. Suddenly, as it goes from 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0, he see's her die. Then they proceed to pull the sheet over her head, lift her up in the ambulance, followed by the ambulance taking off.
He then realizes that what he is seeing (which nobody else can see) is the life span of all human beings.
Suddenly, as he is walking, he see's a very young woman hailing a cab. He then notices that very same 10-second countdown above her head. As she opens the door and starts to enter the Cab, he runs up and pulls her away - just as this massive, heavy object, comes smashing down upon the cab, totaling it.
All of a sudden, she begins to see those same numbers in Orange above the heads of everyone else, trying to figure it out - just as the Guy who was previously saved, and now saved her - had done, when his life was first saved. Meanwhile, the guy who saved her life, walks away, and no longer see's those Orange numbers above other people's heads.
Thus, we all come to realize when his life was saved, it was as though he cheated death. That's why he had no countdown going on above his head, as he became immortal. (Would not die) At the Same time, he was given insight into others life-span by being able to see how long each had to Live - being reflected in a Countdown Clock, In Orange Numbers - above each person's head.
Next, we learn this knowledge, and immortality, also has a hidden quality. IF YOU ARE SAVED - THEREBY BECOMING IMMORTAL IN THE PROCESS - YOU CAN ALSO GIVE UP YOUR IMMORTALITY, BY SAVING SOMEONE ELSE.
When he saved the Woman hailing a Cab, he also gave up his immortality - as you see him walking away, (NOW WITH THE COUNTDOWN IN ORANGE ABOVE HIS HEAD-WHERE IT WASN'T THERE BEFORE), and the Woman - who had a 10-Second Countdown in Orange above her head, prior to being saved - NO LONGER HAS ANY NUMBERS BEING COUNTED DOWN OR REFLECTED ABOVE HER HEAD.)
Therefore, when he gave up his immortality to save another, he passed on that very same immortality to the Woman he saved - while at the same time, losing his ability to see everyone’s else's life span - as he had also passed that on to the Woman he saved.
To me, THAT VIDEO IS PURE GENIUS!!!! I also absolutely love the song.
That video also helps explain the meaning of the following lines in that song: "Say it, IF IT'S WORTH SAVIN ME?"
