It's great you can feel Kate's magic, a rare things these days in today's music. Moving, and Song of Soloman do it for me. Also all of Aerial. I have many faves from each album. To pick a fave album is hard, as I love them all, but TKI, Hounds, TRS and Aerial are at the top.

I have a playlist in iTunes called Sleepy where I put all the music that I want to fall asleep to, then I just hit random. Some of the artist in my sleepy playlist; Tori, Kate Havnevik, Björk, Imogen Heap, Kemopetrol, the Knife ... well, anything in my library that's smooth and relaxing

I had the best sleep in years last night. Sometimes I love Tori's Bsides more than any songs from the albums. Saturday, I found 2 lost CDs I have in my Tori tower( a tall wood 6 shelve tower where I keep all my Tori CDs and DVDs), well I found these CDs of LIVE Bsides, all my faves, sent to me by a friend a few years ago. My cd player did not play MP#s back then, so I put them away till I got a better one. OMG, these are now my fave CDs of my collection. I just found a new love for Seaside and Indian Summer, first time I have listened to these songs LIVE. They are now deep in my heart.

I never play much music before going to bed... I need some peace and quiet. And I deffo never listen to any while I'm in bed trying to get to sleep, I really never understood people who can do that, fall asleep with their headphones in their ears...

Haha I cannot sleep in my bed with music on. However, when I am on trains (as I often am, in Australia it takes me 2 hours to and from uni) I prefer to have my iPod in to drown out the noises of other people. I have a "Sleep" playlist on my iPod for when I'm trying to sleep on trains. The songs are...
Doughnut Song Putting the Damage On Val Jester (by The National) Tahiti (by Bat For Lashes) Beauty Queen/ Horses Carbon Love Ridden (by Fiona Apple) Not The Red Baron Barricade (by Stars) Apollo's Frock Brothers in Arms (by Dire Straits) Enter From The East (by Jewel) All I Need (by Air) A Sorta Fairytale Way Down We Don't Own It (by Joan As Police Woman) Twinkle Daughters of the Soho Riots (by The National) Gold Dust Ruby Through the Looking Glass Mother A Case Of You (by Joni Mitchell) Indian Summer Detlef Schrempf (by Band of Horses) Suede Marianne No One's Gunna Love You (by Band of Horses) Roosterspur Bridge Not Dark Yet (by Bob Dylan) Angels The Greatest (by Cat Power) Racing Like a Pro (by The National) Summer in the City (by Regina Spektor) Sleep With Butterflies Doolin Dalton/ Desperado (reprise) (by The Eagles) Toast Hey Jupiter Seaside Josephine
PHEW! They are all just so calm and lovely hehe.

I have a remote control boom box on my desk in my bedroom. I load it, get in bed, point and click, set it on repeat all, and after 2 songs I'm out like a light. I've been doing this for many, many years, I do not like to sleep without music on.

Oh and, when I first bought "From The Choirgirl Hotel" I was listening it in the car on the way home from the store. As soon as I heard Cruel I thought... "No, I'm not supposed to listen to this here. In the car, distracted. I need to have my eyes closed. I need to be on my bed. I need to drift off with them." SO I turned it off and went home and put it in my CD player and layed back on my bed. I think I went into a half sleep in the middle of Cruel and dozed until the start of Pandora's Aquarium. But I felt I hadn't missed anything. When I listened to it again I could remember the songs. I could remember where I was floating when they played. I think that's why I love them so much. I feel like they are a part of my subconscious. Sounds a bit wanky but it's how I feel.
