I just bought this album yesterday and I've been listening to it off and on since I brought it home... Anyone else own it? Any opinions on it? I'm not sure what to make of it because I have been out of the Alanis notion for years (actually since the album after Jagged Little Pill came out and failed to catch my attention) Who knows maybe this will grow on me... I won't dismiss it right this moment...

Hm, sorry but i can't stand her anymore . The first album was cool cos it was a fresh thing . but after that i just can't hear her voice anymore, i just like You oughta know and i think i'll like it forever cos it 's very true and angry but otherwise .. she & dido & the corrs are the ones that i'd kick out of the music industry if i had any power .

OMG DIDO I would so kill her if i had no moral values Oh but wait... I don't.... Ahem, ALANIS MORRISSETTE DEFINITLY SUCKS NOW, SHE MAKES ME PUKE..... I do think Jagged Little Pill and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie remain really great, kinda like Jewel : the first two albums were great, even brilliant, and theeeennn......

yeah, i feel so too. i was really addicted when jagged little pill came out. hm, i was so young then around 15 i think. but i can't stand her voice anymore. it is like a visit at the dentist. and the corrs suck, too. but i don't have any opinions on dido. she is very boring, i never thought about her. but then i read that she sells millions of cds how can this be?

Definetly a case of diminishing returns with Alanis albums. So-Called Chaos is the first one that i've vaguely regretted buying (I do quite like a couple of the songs, but I have a surprisingly high tolerance for new-age psychobabble bullshit.) What's Dido done to incur everybody's wrath?

I don't know about anywhere else but Dido shifts shedloads of CDs in Britain. In the last couple of years I suspect she's our highest selling artist actually (beating Robbie Williams, Radiohead, Coldplay...).

Well a long time ago I said Alanis sucked big time, but then I got flamed at! I'm glad you all finally see thru her. I never ever liked her, I never bought anything from her either. I liked some songs, up untill I saw this absolutely obnoxious interview of her on teevee. It was an interview at a festival in The Netherlands and the person who interviewed her said that 'Miss Alanis' wanted her cabin where she was staying totally designed... She wanted an 'oriental' feel to the cabin. Mind you all the artists had their cabin, they were all basic... but she wanted pillows in there, eastern blankets ect. Then the obnoxious part came... They interviewed her and she was sitting on one of these pillows, like a fucking budda. And she was saying how important being down to earth is ect... gah. I couldn't believe my eyes. Stupid woman. I never liked her and never will, when I don't like the person behind the music, then no thanks. So yeah... you won't see me buying her music. Oh and besides loads of her music isn't written by herself... apparently she always needs someone to write songs with. And I hate Dildo with a passion too... I never say 'Dido', I always say Dildo... I think she's boring and the media just put her up as a prinses which is totally uncalled for, 'cos she's far from special!

Well, I'll tell you this elninokat...I was the HUGEST Alanis fan way back in the day...everything about her, all her songs, posters, t-shirts, whathaveyou...I owned it. Then again, I was only 13 when she came out....I grew up, and the love just died..I longed for Supposed former...I was 16 at the time...its a good album, but I rarely listen to it now. ...I recently got back into JLP, it is indeed a great album ...but, her newer material just got really boring, and had nothing to offer to me...so, long story short...nope, not getting the new alanis cd anytime soon or ever.... Dido is radio friendly, therefore a lot of airplay, therefore fpopularity...which is why I hardly ever listen to the radio, nothing but shit...the only way I knew who she was, is cuz of that duet she did with whatshisface...eminem

I actually liked her So Called Chaos album - the only reason I'm not too fond of 'Jagged Little Pill' was because of her voice. Yes she was angry, but like Hole and Courtney Love, although I liked the songs, thought the lyrics were good, and the tunes were catchy, I just couldn't stand her voice. And in this one (either just because she's matured as an artist or they've done some clever work on it), it has really improved. Much less grating than it was before.
I also have her Jagged Little Pill, Under Rug Swept and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, and I don't find them all that similar in sound. They all have different styles. It's interesting to hear how she's developed and changed since 1995 - she seems to be a lot less angry now.
*prepares to be flamed*

We don't flame people here... Everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone has a different taste in music ect. So don't ever worry about saying your thoughts in here!

Hello everyone!! Oh boy noone is going to like my reply ... i can see it now! LOL ... sighs ... but i'm going to say my opinion anyways =) Love ya all ::: kisses and hugs :::: ::: cartwheel :::
I love her new cd "So-Called Chaos"!!! =) I love how she integrates or whatever the right word is .. indian music into her music ... I think her cd gives off such positive energy... Her cd really put me out of a bad mood one... One day i was depressed and angry and by the time the cd was done i felt a whole lot better and more postive about my situation that i was in. I love the lyrics and she does write her own lyrics. Don't know why some peoples thinks she doesn't ... She also plays instruments too.. not just sings ... I saw her live once and it was amazing!! =) Her cd for me was theraputic. I love all the songs. I don't like though how the cd ends so fast. It might be cause each song is either too short or i enjoy them so much that soon ya know it it's to the last track which is the "everything" song. When i first heard that one, i didn't think too much of it. But now i really love it =) I love that she's just out there to express herself. I don't think she's sold herself out .. She's not on mags with her boobs hanging out like so many other female artists have resorted too unfortunately. Bottom line ::: I love this cd!! =)
Jagged Little Pill, I still love that cd and i don't really care whether she had a lot of help making that cd or not, i really enjoy listening to that cd.
Her second one .... Don't know why ... but for the Longest time i couldn't listen to it.. i just couldn't seem to like it... but ironically now ... i love it =) I'd say it's a cd to listen to when you just want to have "peaceful" music and just relax. I think the cd is kind of like a diary.
Under Rug Swept ... I love that one a lot!!I think it might be my most favorite of her cds =) I love the song "precious illusions" =) I think that cd was beautifully done =) ---------------------------- Now i haven't seen any recent interviews with alanis so i have no opinions on how she views things etc... but with her music i think she's still going strong =) ---------------------- about dido ... she was mentioned in some of the threads... yea i don't really like her at all... she just no... she needs to go home ... lol ...
