No I'm sorry. In my early 20s I once tried to listen to a couple of cd's but it definately wasn't my thing, although I read some very positive things about the band back then.
Maybe you can let me listen to some nice stuff you like when I stay over at your place June 12?

Deb I love DCD and Lisa Gerrards solo work. It is absolutely stunning. Over here in Australia I find it so strange to see mentions of DCD etc in the daily newspapers etc, because for so very long they were known over here as an underground gothic band, it seems that now that Lisa wins awards for her movie scores etc, Australia is suddenly proud to call her a citizen. She is meant to get a lot of her inspiration from the beautiful Snowy Mountains, where i believe she lives most of the time. I absolutely adore the early DCD stuff (Aion etc), I have many fond memories of dancing to 'Black Sun' when i was on the verge of 18 and just beginning to experience goth clubs. The latest release i felt was a little bit like 'cafe music' or the sort of music you would play on low volume at a dinner party. Alas it hasnt turned me off them one bit. DCD is fantastic.

That is cool...I love Black sun as well that was kind of what was funny at the concert , there were as many goth people as classical music listeners which was quite nice.. i also love Lisa Gerrard's solo work, especially Immortal Memory and the mirror pool...i get a lot of strengh from this music

Towards The Within is the best album (the only one of theirs I have)! I missed them last time they played in Dublin hopefully I'll see them again though, they're on my must see live before i die list! They have such a varied style I'd say it's be hard to get bored at one of their gigs oh yes that's true, if i ever get a chance to see them live again, i won't hesitate a second !

Has anyone here got the Projekt records DCD tribute CD? I lllloooovvvveee Black Tape For A Blue Girl and they perform 'Fortune Presents Gifts' on the CD... but alas with credit cards etc, im not in the position to get it... and i reside in Australia, and Projekt stuff is almost impossible to find ANYWHERE.... But still on the DCD front, I must admit that i was a very very huge fan until more recently, when Lisa won a few prestigious awards for her movie scores, and in interviews, she mentioned that in many of the DCD tracks, they are not speaking any language at all, but just verbalising... perhaps its like speaking in tongues, hheh, but i guess i always presumed because they were so skilled at playing such obscure instruments and taking almost-byzantine songs and recreating them, that the songs were in unusual dialects.... I cant explain why, perhaps im a little stupid, but i was just a little disappointed. Oh, and how very disturbingly beautiful is 'I am stretched on your grave' It is so evocative, and for some reason it reminds of of Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, when he cannot accept that Cathy is dead (only in that tale he digs up her body to hold her again... ew) To hopefully inspire a few people to pick up some DCD cds:
I am stretched on your grave And will lie there forever With your hands held in mine I'd be sure we'd not sever My apple tree my brightness 'Tis time we were together For I smell of the earth And am stained by the weather
When my family thinks That I'm safe in my bed From night until morning I am stretched at your head Calling out to the air With tears both hot and wild Oh I grieve for the girl That I loved as a child
The priests and the friars Behold me in dread Because I still love you My love and you're dead I would still be your shelter From rain and from storm And with you in your cold grave I cannot sleep warm
