I've recently discovered a bunch of what people call World Music... both from Senegal!!!!
One is Ismael Lo. His music is just incredible. Probably his most famous song is Tajabone, which I discovered in the Almodovar movie Todo Sobre mi Madre:
And I never had heard any Youssou N'Dour stuff apart from his duet with Neneh Cherry, but I saw him live in concert last week and he was amazing too, Great great voice!!
So are there any other World Music artists you like/would recommend??
Manu Chao! he's amazing! i think he speaks spanish, english, french and porteguese...i love Me Gustas Tu - youtube.com/watch?v=mzgjiPBCsss He uses a lot of similar sounding beats throughout his CD's, so they flow really well. i'm open to more recommendations as well...
