Of course he's shallow. I mean, he just sees this woman on the train and instantly falls in love with her. No interest in her personality or anything. He'd obviously just shag her and then leave her. How much more shallow can you get

Shit, i'm becoming intolerant again. *shuts the fuckup* Yes you are. (Conveniently ignores his own Robbie comments... )Polished? Yes, definitely. But only in the right way - if you listen to the guitar (and indeed other instruments) very closely it hasn't been polished to the point where it sounds fake or synthetic. It's been no more polished than 99% of albums released these days - and certainly is less 'polished' than 99% of the crap in the charts. And his voice is hardly polished. Shallow? Only if you judge it by the fact some girls in your school like to sing his last single without even realising the meaning behind any of the words they're singing. And unless you just hate his voice (which is fine, i can understand those who can't stand it - it's so distinct), maybe try checking out a couple of other tracks before you write him off as shallow. At least don't judge him just from the one song. Plus at least take a quick look at the guy's biography here to see where he's coming from and who he is, because he's hardly your average 'popstar' by any means.

How much more shallow can you get Wow... So you really don't believe in 'love at first sight' then? And there i was thinking it was most likely to be about him seeing a woman he found so beautiful that he instantly fell in love with her, but couldn't bring himself to actually speak to her, thereby missing any chance of finding out who she really was, and so had fantasized of what her personality may have been in his ideal world along with what a relationship would have been like. All along he really was just thinking "Damn i'd have liked to have given her one!"? How could i have been so naive...?

Yeah, well, after all: 18 years piano education, 3 years jazz singing, 4 years music study at music university and a CD collection of 300 and more 200 vinyls ( I think) I can be arrogant enough to decide by myself what I like and what I dislike. But thanks for the concerning. I will definitely check out his CD, maybe I really don't like it, but I can decide this on my own. I love his lyrics, they are SO NOT shallow. Poor people who never met someone on the street and developed a crush, thinking about this person for the next 2 weeks and thinking what could have happened if... I experienced that several times, maybe because I walk through life with open eyes and I am pretty passionate about everything. Just because someone doesn't understand this way of feeling is no reason to call him shallow or to suppose that this person wants to shag and then leave a woman. Seriously people, come down and drink some tea. Maybe then it goes better.

Oh and, one more thing: Maybe you should check out his biography, then you can see that he is not shallow. She was in Kosovo and most of the songs on his album are about his terrible experiences there, he started to write music as a therapy to overcome this shit he has seen.

I love typos! ;D Yes, that's why Teppic inserted a link to his biography in his reply. He definately is not a shallow one hit wonderboy. Yes, like you say Julia... he sings about daily fantasies, daily thoughts about relationships... love. Stuff happened to him in the past ect. Hey, if I would have met him years ago on a train... who knows? ;D

;D I don't care if he's a nice guy who had an interesting life in Kosovo where he saw lots of horrible things, good for him! Errrr wait... I hate that song, i hate his voice, i hate the clip, i find him annoying, i find his music annoying, he gets on my nerves, i don't want to discover his music, period. < / shallow>. Noone can brainwash me lalalalala. It's like Coldplay, i can admit their music is pleasant and even brilliant, but i can't stand them. Chris Martin is a very nice good guy, but i can't stand him. Same here. Tho i admit Coldplay made some really great stuff that i don't want to buy, whereas i don't even think James Blunt is any good. I prefer listening to Britney's Toxic to James Blunt's You're Beautiful, that's how far i can't stand the song. *plays Toxic of Britney*

I hate that song, i hate his voice, i hate the clip, i find him annoying, i find his music annoying, he gets on my nerves, i don't want to discover his music, period. < / shallow>. You do realise that actually makes it look like you're calling yourself shallow don't you? Or did you type it that way on purpose? Cos if you mean you know that by saying you don't know anything about him and don't want to but you will continue to slag him off, you know that you're being a bit shallow yourself then fair enough. You aren't interested in him, full stop. Regardless of anything. Fine. I at least appreciate you admitting you don't like him just because that's how you feel, rather than having legit reasons behind your hatred. But if you're still just saying James Blunt is shallow, and then openly saying you don't know anything about him and won't even take the 3 seconds it would need for you to find out if your idea of him being shallow is correct or a misconception, then i'm not even going to continue discussing him with you like this because you simply aren't willing to be fair towards the guy. If you find him/his voice/his music annoying, then fine - but i don't see how you can be fair towards Coldplay when you feel similarly towards them, and at the same time rip into James Blunt like you have. As for saying you'd rather listen to Britney, well that kind of sums up everything.

How much more shallow can you get the song is based on a 'true' story - one day he saw his ex-gf with her new man on the subway... at least that's what he said in an interview. i must confess i liked the song at the begining, when it wasn't on the radio or anything, but now i can't stand it anymore. *runs and hides*

What the fuck is wrong with you people, i was doing self mockery self criticism whatever you want to call it!!! I know my dislike for the guy is totally irrational, but i just can't stand him, period! And the Britney comment was me trying to be funny but obviously it didn't work!!!!! (I do think that Toxic song is fun btw, to make things 10 thousand times more confusing! ;D)
