Australian TV has just started screening the Osbournes and I'm in two minds about it... But Kelly has done a remix of madonna's "Pappa Don't Preach" and it is fucking shite!!

I just heard one of the unreleased songs on the radio as I was reading this thread! I can't wait to see them live - I'm not even sure if they have been to Australia before How cool is that with Dave Grohl touring and playing on Songs for the Deaf album My friend works at HMV head office and got us VIp tix to a record signing that the Foo Fighters were doing when the last came over here - i got to see 5 songs played live (with me only 2meters away!) and then got to chat to the band. Truly amazing and I will never forget that! Dave has the best cheesy grin in the world ;D - he should take up acting in comedy movies i reckon!

A ROCK band plugging their new album Songs For The Deaf at a club were stunned when 37 deaf people turned up for the gig. Posters and leaflets for the performance by loud American group Queens of the Stone Age were distributed before the show in Hull, East Yorks. And the hard-of-hearing party arrived expecting a special event for the deaf. They gestured in sign language to puzzled doormen at Spiders club. And when it finally became clear that they had misunderstood the preconcert publicity, they became angry and stomped off.
A spokesman for the band said yesterday: “We can see the funny side now but it was a bit baffling at the time. “The group never thought their album would cause such confusion.” The rockers - fronted by singer Nick Oliveri and guitarist Josh Homme - were promoting the album prior to its release next Monday. Their last offering, Rated R, was voted best album of 2000 by magazines Q and NME. A manager at the club said: “Fifteen minutes after opening, I got a message from the door saying a large party had turned up. “The doormen got a bit confused when they started using sign language. Some of their gestures were very descriptive. “One of the crowd said they were here for the Songs For The Deaf night and that they would call the Trading Standards Commission if they didn’t get in. “That’s when the penny dropped - there had been a huge misunderstanding. After my staff did a lot of explaining, the group also understood what had happened. “They were angry and said they had phoned us to check we were holding a Songs For The Deaf night. “They didn’t see the funny side at all and left straight away.”
;D ;D ;D

All of the live reveiws I have read describe Craig (frontman) as a crazed, guitar weilding madman, and he goes into these "sharman-esque" trances and they trash their equipment (which is very passe, but kinda ) ... Wow, I guess I never got to see Nirvana live , never got to see the Doors , never got to go to the Isle of White and see Jimmi ripping into his Fender Stratocaster, upside down, with his teeth and playing behind his head.. Ah, hangon.. I'm NOT saying the Vines can ever expect to live up to this genius and pure god status, but I do like to go a bit crazy myself at times and think it's a great way to vent! ;D Also - the album as a whole (in my humble opinion) is worth every cent. Depends on your taste of course, but wow - i haven't heard good stuff like this for a while!

If Sydney had a community based radio station such as RRR (with the brilliant John Safran), then that's what I'd be listening too aswell!
We have FBI radio as well as a few others, but in my opinion Triple J still warrants it's success.
The latest radio ratings figures shows that Melbourne is the lowest rating city for JJJ, but RRR cannot be rated as they can't afford to pay the auditors & be part of the report. It's a shame, I'd be really interested to see if it out-rates the majors.

Yeah, Triple J have been giving it great airplay for the last 3 weeks - woohoo, nice to hear that voice again! Apparently Gordon Gano's album will be released here soon. I'm looking forward to hearing this as he has collaborated with a nice array of people

Ditto! I saw them in January 2001 when they toured here and they just entranced a main festival arena of at least 40,000 ppl (me included). I would love to see a more intimate gig though. I have Parachutes on cd which i love to listen to late at night or early Sunday mornings. Can't wait for the next album too. Did anyone read the nme.com news article about their recent shows in New York? Apparently Liam (or was it Noel?) was in the audience *he'd been in that taxi accident earlier in the week* and .... shit, here's the link: www.nme.com/news/102623.htmI noticed a good reviews section has been set up too

I guess it depends on what kind of set they do. As you would know they have such a variety of songs - their musical spectrum is unbelievable! A crowd can appear 'boring' if they are doing some of their more mellow songs, but it's the experience you can feel by being in their presence. Katie Noonan has thevoice of an angel! Hey - I think you'll find that SFK are not playing, it's just Paul Dempsy doing solo/acoustic (well that's for the Syd festival). I disagree with the SFK crowd being boring though - got some of my best rock'n'roll memories from their gigs, especially at festivals. Find a bunch of friends and sing ya little heart out.

www.george.net.au/polyserena/themusic.htmThis Aussie band is brilliant! Check out some of their songs here. The two singers are brother and sister (katie and tyrone noonan) and their mother was an acomplished opera singer so taught them from a very early age. They are only just gaining the respect that they deserve in Australia. I love 'em - check them out, beautiful!
